Animals Who Heal Children

After being removed from her unsafe home, she was placed in foster care, but the emotional scars from her ordeal were taking a toll and she was placed in a mental health program. Her difficult road to healing began with the support of another specialist trained in such matters – a dog named Rigo!
Over the weeks and months of Laura's counseling, her trust in Rigo grew steadily. And one day, a breakthrough occurred. With her arms wrapped around Rigo for comfort and security, Laura whispered in his ear, describing in graphic detail her horror of abuse.
Operating as a program of American Humane Association, Denver Pet Partners provides animal-assisted activities and animal-assisted therapy to clients such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospice, schools, mental health centers and more.

In my old school our head of care used to bring her dog in and it really helped the children talk about any problems. The dog was trained to be theraputic and then the head of my house brought her dog in as well. You see my school was a special needs school with boarding and we had some pupils with behaviour difficulties. Since then I have left and gone to a special needs college but thy don't have any dogs there. The head of care has left and now the head of my house took the job. I bet you she stills brings her dog in!

Animals do have the ability to heal. For all of us. Kids need are help anyway we can. The animals can do more good then any human can.

I know exactly how this girl feels. I have been abused all my life. I always find comfort in having an animal by my side!

These and other programs are important. I have a Brittany Spanial puppy who helps detect my sezuires and gives me the courage to live outside of my home and have a job. I would not be able to function without the confidence I have gain from her help. My aunt had a dog who "took" her sever asthma away from her so that she could breath and live a someone productive life. These and other types of animals are important and should be provided through medical means and they should also aid in funding thier programs.
