Stop Dogfighting Now!
Sponsored by: American Humane AssociationDog fighting is a cruel and brutal practice. The abuses are so gruesome that even experienced investigators are shocked by what they discover at dog fighting raids.
For the sake of human profit, the dogs are trained to kill. To ensure their aggression dogs are beaten, chained and fed gunpowder, illegal drugs and even live animals -- and sometimes they are not fed at all for long periods of time. In the end, dogs that do not win are either killed or left to die horrific and painful deaths.
The Federal Dog Protection Act addresses these issues of cruelty, providing much needed protection to the animals that are pulled into this barbaric blood sport. This bill is necessary to adequately punish anyone who not only operates and engages in, but also attends and otherwise supports, dog-fighting events. In addition, the bill bans the use of the U.S. Postal Service to mail dog fighting paraphernalia and has a civil suit provision.

It is such a cruel and pathetic "past-time" for sick minded people who should be stopped and punished for such terrible acts on helpless dogs. The dogs cannot fight to be saved, but we can fight for them. Anyone found doing such a crime should be held accountable, with financial restitution to a local animal shelter, not be allowed to own any sort of animal and jail time.

if you have ever seen any of the documentaries, pictures of the poor animals after the fact, you wouldnt even question why this is wrong. Dogs were domesticated by man...and man should take care of them, not use them for profit for some sick betting game...these are God's creatures & should be treated as such. it isnt enough to just prosicute someone for dog fighting, I think it would be in the best interest to people, dog breeders, humane society and pet shops a web site they can refer to that has information and pics of dog fighting felons. We have be proactive in our approach to the dog fighting situation. as you know they go out buy, steal and breed breed pit bulls. This would ensure that those who have these animals best will at heart can screen and perhaps save an animals life.
