Stop Polar Bear Trophy Hunting!

Polar bears already face a daunting future because of global warming, oil and gas exploration and toxic chemical pollution. But there's another threat that many Americans aren't aware of – trophy hunting.
The United States does not allow sport hunting of polar bears in their Alaskan habitat. But more than half of the world's polar bears live in Canada, where hunting is legal. And due to a huge loophole in the Marine Mammal Protection Act, American trophy hunters can travel to Canada, kill a polar bear, and bring back polar bear trophies.
From 2002-2005, a total of 298 requests were made by US citizens to import sport hunted polar bear trophies from Canada. Of these, 252 - a staggering 85 percent - were issued.
We may not be able to stop Canada from allowing hunting, but we can stop the U.S. from allowing Americans to import polar bear trophies. Please act today and urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stop issuing polar bear trophy permits immediately!

i truly dont comprehend why hunting endangered animals is allowed it makes no sence. Poor animals are so vulnerable to how much cruelty there can be in a human. I really do wish they could come to their sences and realize that what they are doing is wrong!

I can't understand why hunting endangered animals is allowed, even encouraged by the government. It seems that a more logical path would be to protect these beautiful animals, especially since their natural habitat is disappearing, with thanks in part to our own country.

The U.S. think they are all so superior with all their technology and all, but actually are just a bunch of ancient apes that keep thinking that hunting is part of their survival. I can't believe that there are thousands of these animals dying because of global warming and now they want to kill them more fast by hunting them and making ridiculous things like trophies. It is a horrible and most selfish act people to think that what matters is a polar bear head hangind on the wall. Hunting and killing has no sense to me, and to a whole lot of other people too, specially nowadays where we se ourselves destroying our planet and watching it falls along with it's species. The polar bear is one of the most beautiful and mystical animals that we have in the cold side of the planet, it is not fair and it is not right to finish them so that some morons can have their heads hanged on the walls.
