Stop Polar Bear Trophy Hunting!

Polar bears already face a daunting future because of global warming, oil and gas exploration and toxic chemical pollution. But there's another threat that many Americans aren't aware of – trophy hunting.
The United States does not allow sport hunting of polar bears in their Alaskan habitat. But more than half of the world's polar bears live in Canada, where hunting is legal. And due to a huge loophole in the Marine Mammal Protection Act, American trophy hunters can travel to Canada, kill a polar bear, and bring back polar bear trophies.
From 2002-2005, a total of 298 requests were made by US citizens to import sport hunted polar bear trophies from Canada. Of these, 252 - a staggering 85 percent - were issued.
We may not be able to stop Canada from allowing hunting, but we can stop the U.S. from allowing Americans to import polar bear trophies. Please act today and urge the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to stop issuing polar bear trophy permits immediately!

If you want to show how "superior" you are why don't you donate your time and money to charities instead of killing animals for your own selfish gain. I want my children when I have them to be able to experiance these wild creatures without the tag of "endangered" or "threatened" placed upon the animal's head. Why in the world would you even consider that? Polar bears are an ENDANGERED SPECIES. That means they are at risk of going EXTINCT. Killing them for fun and games is not going to help them survive. They already have a hard enough life as it is, what with their home disappearing and all. Polar bears are not meant to be trophies. They are just like our pets. Some people actually consider them as family. You wouldn't want to mount a beloved family member on your wall, would you? Can you imagine how hard it would be on cubs if their mother died for a few laughs? They would die as well. However you look at it, that's killing a mother and leaving her children to suffer without her. They are living, breathing creatures that contribute to our society, and they deserve to be treated a whole lot better.
