President Bush: Farewell, and Clean Up Your Mess!

Target: President George Bush
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund
Our wildlife and the habitat they depend on deserve leaders who are good stewards of the land, not beholden to corporate interests. But President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their anti-wildlife cronies such as Gale Norton and Dirk Kempthorne have made a mess – and a mockery – of our environmental regulations and wildlife protections.

Over the past seven years, the Bush/Cheney Administration has worked to:
  • Block meaningful efforts to address climate change now threatening polar bears, penguins and other wildlife.
  • Eliminate vital protections for endangered wolves in the Greater Yellowstone Area.
  • Roll back protections for millions of acres of roadless areas in our National Forests, paving the way for the destruction of habitat that wolves, grizzly bears and countless other species need to survive.
  • Expand destructive oil and gas drilling off our coasts and in sensitive areas such as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, threatening polar bears, sea otters and other wildlife.

And that's only a partial list!

With less than a year to go, President Bush and his administration should take this opportunity to clean up the mess they have made by supporting comprehensive legislation to address climate change, immediately listing imperiled species such as polar bears and right whales under the Endangered Species Act, and protecting the Arctic National Wildlife and our roadless National Forests.

Send President Bush a farewell message and urge him to spend his last few months in office correcting the damage done by his administration.

Dear President Bush –

As you embark on your last year in office, I urge you to correct the damage your administration has done to our wildlife and environment.

[Your comment here]

Over the next few months, please support:

  • Comprehensive legislation that reduces carbon emissions that contribute to global warming and eliminates our nation's dependence on fossil fuels

  • Legislative and Administrative efforts to protect wildlife, like polar bears, that is threatened by global warming -- and the habitat it needs to survive.

  • Immediate listing of imperiled species that clearly qualify for protection under the Endangered Species Act. Ample evidence exists to extend legal protections to polar bears, right whales and red knots.

  • Responsible management of America's natural resources, based on sound science -- not the profit margins of oil, timber and other special interests. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, our National Forests and other wild places must be protected.

  • Sincerely,

You and your administration should be jailed for what you've done to hurt the environment and promote global warming. Why don't you try to turn this around while you've still got time... and do something positive for generations to come.

President Bush, I used to a republican. The deficit you have created is terrible. I was a Republican that DID NOT believe in selling our country to China. WHY?

As Gov. of Texas and as Pres. of U.S. you have always shown your disdain for environmental issues. Hopefully you will finally come to your senses and try to reverse some of the damage you have done. Stranger things have happened.

If you want to leave a legacy for your administration then take a look at fixing the mess you have made to our environment especially in the West and Alaska. There is certainly no improvement to mankind since your term in office......

What an egotistical trip you must have been on for the past 8 years. You didn't get elected by the people-no, you cheated your way (both terms) into the Presidency. Shame on you and your greedy friends. We are ashamed of YOU!!! You have put the American public to shame and the whole world wonders how much worse it can get. Do something (one thing!) good and clean up your environmental mess. Stop fooling around with mother nature. It will ultimately come and bite you and your precious friends and family-for generations to come-and they all will know that YOU, Mr. Bush, were responsible for it! Get off your creamy white A_ _ and do something for someone else and our country's creatures for a change!!!
