It's Happened in South Dakota - Protect Choice in Your State Now!

Target: Your State Governor
Sponsored by: NARAL Pro-Choice America
In 2006, the worst has happened: South Dakota has banned abortion.

What did the law do? South Dakota's criminal ban outlawed abortion in almost all cases and does not protect a woman in cases of rape or incest or even when her health is in danger. Doctors who violate the ban could face up to five years in prison.

The law was part of a larger anti-choice strategy to overturn Roe v. Wade altogether. To quote the South Dakota House Speaker Matthew Michels, "I think the stars are aligned." [Los Angeles Times, 2/25/06]

Please join us in sending a message to U.S. governors asking them to hold the line on a woman's right to choose.

Dear Governor,

A woman's right to choose is protected by the U.S. Supreme Court and should be a decision between a woman and her doctor - without interference from politicians.

Please protect the rights of women in our state by vetoing any anti-choice legislation that comes before you this legislative session.
We signed the “It's Happened in South Dakota - Protect Choice in Your State Now!” petition!

I am pro-life in all areas. With that said I am againist what is happening in South Dakota. I wonder how a state can over turn something that is what I thought was a national law. I do not feel that it is right for a child, teen, or woman to be forces to have a child which has been created through rape or incest or health conserns. For example, my state has has special OBGYNs for girls as young as 9 years old. They should are still children and should not have to endure delivering a child. Something should be done to meet everyones concerns both medically, spiritually, and/or morally.

Laws like this will only support Back Door abortion clinics where the woman's health may be at risk. It is a woman's body and should be a woman's choice, not the state's.

Just because it's a choice I wouldn't make does NOT give me - or anyone else - the right to deny that choice to others.

It is no the state's body , it is not the state's health. It is the womans'.

I fear that with this administration's confusion between the separation of CHURCH and State, we are heading backward in time..back to the time when women were viewed as property and had no choice. These are dangerous decisions that will cause more harm than good. Welcome Back Alley Abortions!

I THOUGHT THAT THE CONSTUTION SAYS THAT WOMEN CAN DO WHAT EVER THE HELL THAT THEY WANT TO THERE BODIES BECAUSE IT IS THERE OWN? rOW VS WADE STATES THAT A WOMENS BODY IS HER RIGHT AND THAT SHE HAS THE RIGHT TO ABORTION IF SHE SO PLEASES. TELL CONGRESS THAT THERE BEING UNCOSTITUTIONAL ABOUT AND THAT THEY NEED TO CHANGE THAT LAW.
