There's a quiet war going on in America – against the most basic rights of Americans, especially women, to make their own personal decisions about family planning.
It was started by a small group of extreme ideologues who claim the right to impose their personal beliefs on the overwhelming majority of the American people.
They're waging this silent war on contraception by using the power of the White House and their right-wing allies in Congress -- and so far, they're getting away with it.
The United States has one of the highest rates of unintended pregnancies in the industrialized world. And the impact of the war on contraception is borne by the poor: a poor woman is four times as likely to experience an unplanned pregnancy as a higher-income woman.
That's why Senator Hillary Clinton and Congresswoman Nita Lowey have introduced a Congressional Resolution to Strengthen Family Planning Services for Women - and they need your voice to make sure every member of Congress votes on this Resolution. Become a co-sponsor today and help us pass this important resolution to ensure women have access to contraceptives! Senator Clinton will forward your message to your Congressional representatives.
We signed the “Stop the Silent War on Contraception” petition!

We live in a world of 6.3 billion people. Nearly a billion are starving to death as you read this. There are shortages of food and water around the world. Overpopulation is devastating ecologies. Yet the "religious wrong" wishes to force people to have children they neither want nor can afford. It is punishment for having sex, pure and simple. Get these intruders out of our bedrooms and clinics. Let them mind their own business, not ours.

Legislation hampering contraception as birth control is unacceptable on several levels. Thank you for standing up to this minority group of morally bankrupt religious zealots.

I think contraception shold be readily available to all women! There would be less unwanted children, less children ripped from homes, going from foster home, to foster home. Less children abandoned, less children mistreated, less families with more children than they can finantualy support! I could go on all day with the advantages of readily availabe contraception, but I can not think of one down side to it, unless you want over population, and govement telling you, that you can only have one child, per houshold. like they do in China!

"For I was hungry and you gave me no food; I was thirsty and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and you did not take me in, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. Then they also will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?' Then will he answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me." (Matthew 25:42-45)

No authority has the right to tell others what they can or cannot do when it comes to contraception.

If women aren't allowed to make choices about their own body, then what is this country coming to? I know quite a few people that I've met who I thought should be made to use birth control due to the fact that they continue to have children that are automatically taken away from them for various reasons. The only benefit to that is some lucky couple who can't have children out there gets a newborn. I have a little girl, and I am helping my fiance raise his daughter. If I weren't on birth control, I'd probably end up pregnant again. Yes, I want more children, but not right now. I can't afford the extra expense right now, and we have our hands full already with two toddlers. We want to get on our feet and get married before we have any more children. Its not only my decision but his as well. There are too many women out there who don't use birth control and sleep around and have no idea who their child belongs to. To not allow women to use birth control would make that number significantly higher. Birth control gives a woman the freedom to be as sexual active as a man without the repurcussions. Men alot of times father children and never know it since they aren't the ones carrying the child. If there was a way for a man to carry a child and go through everything that a woman does, they would understand our desire to take birth control.

It is unutterably reprehensible that the U.S. government should be tampering with a woman's right to use contraception, virtually forcing her to bear children. What happened to small government? Even the Pope makes exception for the use of condoms.

The attack on women in this country is reprehensible. Family planning is the only sensible and ethical way to allow each woman to make her own choice as to the child/children she does or does not want to have. All family planning services should be available to all women.

I think most of our social/political problems arise from to many people feeling unwanted when young (probably correctly!). As someone once said: "It takes a village to raise a child." Unplanned for kids likely won't get that.
