There's a quiet war going on in America – against the most basic rights of Americans, especially women, to make their own personal decisions about family planning.
It was started by a small group of extreme ideologues who claim the right to impose their personal beliefs on the overwhelming majority of the American people.
They're waging this silent war on contraception by using the power of the White House and their right-wing allies in Congress -- and so far, they're getting away with it.
The United States has one of the highest rates of unintended pregnancies in the industrialized world. And the impact of the war on contraception is borne by the poor: a poor woman is four times as likely to experience an unplanned pregnancy as a higher-income woman.
That's why Senator Hillary Clinton and Congresswoman Nita Lowey have introduced a Congressional Resolution to Strengthen Family Planning Services for Women - and they need your voice to make sure every member of Congress votes on this Resolution. Become a co-sponsor today and help us pass this important resolution to ensure women have access to contraceptives! Senator Clinton will forward your message to your Congressional representatives.
We signed the “Stop the Silent War on Contraception” petition!

As family planning funding has decreased, the price of choice has increased to the extent that it is quite apparent our current administration wants us to have no choice at all, but for the one they have approved, seemingly all around: to keep production up and accountability down.

There is all the differnce in the world between contraception
and abortion. Even if one is opposed to abortion, there is no reason to prohibit women from access to contraception.
Besides the fact that this choice is and should be a personal right, there are many serious health conditions that can make it dangerous for a woman to become pregnant at times. That ought not require the sacrifice of sharing marital intimacy by wife and husband.

this is an issue that requires the same ridiculous fight as women's right to vote. it is a no-brainer that women should be the regulators of their own bodies. (do we have legislative debates over vasectomies?) if you don't want to use contraception, then don't use it. but there's obviously a real need for it, and there has been since before the AMA became our reproductive specialist (and the government became our mother).

Because easier and cheaper access to birth control will empower women to protect themselves from unplanned pregnancy and the emotional termoil surrounding it. Our officials on the right want to ban abortion but don't seem to understand that easy, cheap access to birth control is the best way to prevent the need for a women to even have to chose abortion as an option to an unintended pregnancy. It's like saying we know how to help you, but we wont make it easy and then when somthing happens we will make you feel like a bad person. Everyone over a certain age has and enjoys sex, God made our bodies that way. To expect people not to engage in it is ignorant and just plain stupid. So the thing to do is to give the power to the only people who can affect real change in unplanned pregnancies and abortions, Women.

they don't want women to have access to birth control because more children being born equal future taxpayers and future soldiers. that is all they care about at the expense of a woman's choice or health. they = any man in power. they just don't understand our position and never will. it's not what is important.
