Keep Foster Children Off the Street
Target: U.S. SenateSponsored by: Covenant House
One in five foster children grow up to be homeless adults. Many of these children are forced to leave their homes due to physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse, but the state child welfare systems responsible for their well-being lack the tools needed to meet their complex needs.
The Reconnecting Youth to Prevent Homelessness Act attempts to break the vicious cycle that disconnects these children from the help they need. The act supports these young people by: strengthening federal child welfare systems, extending their access to support services, and amending the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to improve access to benefits.
Every child deserves a chance to succeed no matter where they grow up or who raises them. Urge your senators to support S.2560, the Reconnecting Youth to Prevent Homelessness Act.

If children aren't taught the warmth of love and how to socially interact, we're going to see more and more crime with the prisons and jails overflowing more than they already are. Let's fix the problem before it becomes an issue for the criminal system AFTER they've hurt themselves &/or someone else!

As a former foster parent and an adoptive parent i see the need. there is a real problem in my city with young people who have aged out of foster care and are dumped on the welfare system. often they are mentally ill and untreated.there is also a problem with kids kicked out of there homes at age 18. no insurance, no education. you can't live on what you make from slinging burgers. food stamps are a joke. one young lady i know only gets 22 dollars a month in food stamps. she has no home. she goes to school and we take care of her. she is mentally ill too. lots of kids like her around. no wonder drugs and prostitution are rampant in our cities.

All children are our future. We need to do whatever we can to help those who do not come from loving homes to become loving & educated adults. Biological parents who bring kids into this world then leave them for the state to raise should be prevented from having any future children.

My brother grew up in foster homes & just lerned to read at 40 yrs. old. He has had to fight an uphill battle all the way.

children with their real parents have a hard time growing up but when you dont have your real parents and no one wants to adopt you how are going to know act as adults when they dont have good adult influences in their lives
