Stop Irresponsible Animal Breeding

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: Care2
The breeding of animals is a sensitive and complex issue. While some breeders are legitimate and treat the animals well, there are others who breed animals for a certain look, or worse for fighting.

Many of these breeds live uncomfortable or tragic lives because their bodily function, comfort, and/or brain function are inhibited. Some examples are miniature horses, pit bulls (who are bred to have huge shoulders for fighting and to look tough) and inbreeding.

Another form of irresponsible breeding is, of course, puppy mills. Sign this petition to tell your Representative that you care about the issue of animal breeding, and that breeding any animal for profit should require strict government regulation.

Sign the petition today to call for the regulation of animal breeding!

Dear Representative,

I am writing to tell you that I care deeply about the welfare of animals in regard to animal breeding.

Irresponsible animal breeding is cruel and should be regulated by the government. Many animals are bred for looks or even for fighting, and this breeding can cause the inhibition of the animals' bodily and mental function, and can cause them to live very uncomfortable lives.

This is a complex issue, and I trust you, as my representative, to do what you can to make sure that this issue is addressed.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

There are so many unwanted animals in the world, why must we add to this number by torturing so many in the process? It's sad, it's pathetic, and it's completely unnecessary. Please provide a proper voice to these helpless animals.

We as a society need to take steps to put irresponsible puppy mills/[so-called] breeders out of business for good. There needs to be some sort of organized system and severe penalties for violators. Pet stores should be banned from selling any animals - enact laws that require them to try to place shelter animals.

Millions of dogs and cats are euthanized in the US in extremely cruel and painful ways. Gased, electrocuted, and heart injections are the CONVENIENT methods used in many shelters. I think dog breeding should be ILLEGAL! We have 2 rescues, from Ohio, whos caretakers didnt want them because they could not longer produce puppies. They were dumped at a shelter, ready to be gased. Not humanely put to rest, as seen on OPRAH. No more puppy mills, no more pet stores.
