The road toward better animal welfare is through cooperation, information and a strong international commitment. Urge the United Nations to adopt a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare! The declaration would have a real, long-term impact on the welfare of billions of animals worldwide.

Animals feel pain and fear like we do, but they are often helpless victims because they can't say what happened to them. In fact, some people choose to abuse animals instead of people for this very reason! If we wish to create a humane society, we must stop cruelty against those who are most vulnerable - this includes animals who are as vulnerable as children, if not more so.

We are falling in all categories of the Industrialized Nations. So many other countries seem to be so much better at taking care of their young and old as well as their animals. The on-going disrespect and cruel treatment of animals is extremely upsetting to me and many others. Something needs to be done to put a stop to the apparent acceptance of such behaviour by our governments lack of interest. More strict laws need to be implemented to stop the abuse.
