Make Women's Rights a Priority!

Sponsored by: Mama Cash
Throughout history, countless women have planned, organized, lectured, wrote, marched, petitioned, lobbied and broke new ground in every field imaginable.

The lives of women have been changed forever – but there’s still so much more to do for women’s rights around the globe.

The 88 days between Dec. 10 and March 8 - International Human Rights Day and International Women's Day – is a time to make women's rights a special priority. We're already halfway there. Now is the time to Act!

You can contribute to a better world for women and girls! Pledge to do your part during these 88 days and convert your personal power into action and awareness.

Your pledge can be as simple as sharing your opinion on women's rights, or reading an article - or it can be as large as hosting a dinner party in honor of womens' rights, taking part in an event or making a speech.

Make your pledge to make women’s rights a special priority today!

Part of the Healing Violence Against Women Committee of the Srs. of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul involved with a Mar. 4-5/08 Conference " Gender Violence, Out of the Shadows", which is the last of 5 Conferences over a 10 year mandate. I feel all the issues below in the petition are very important to women today.

Even in countries like the USA who are supposed to give women equal rights, are showing by some of the comments made to Hillary Clinton, that they do not respect women, and don't think a women should be running for President. This is from both other Politicians etc., and the Media. So, it shows how much worse it must be in countries where woman have NO rights at all.

Equality for half of the population of Earth should be a high priority. How do we move forward to solve the terrible problems threatening our future on this planet when half of us are victims of gender discrimination? Every human being has a right to be respected above all as equal in their humanity. It is intolerable that even in the most progressive democracies, women are still not fully liberated from male domination.

In celebrating this important time, I will take time out to recognise women who have made a mark in history, whether it be worldly like Bhutto & Jean Batten or like the women in my life who reaches out to help as much as she can like my mother who on top of her business contributes by donating much of her time and money towards causes such as City Mission and the Hospice. Myself, likes to read as much on women movements as I possibly can and let my peers aware of the celebrations.
