Sponsored by: Mama Cash
Throughout history, countless women have planned, organized, lectured, wrote, marched, petitioned, lobbied and broke new ground in every field imaginable.

The lives of women have been changed forever – but there’s still so much more to do for women’s rights around the globe.

The 88 days between Dec. 10 and March 8 - International Human Rights Day and International Women's Day – is a time to make women's rights a special priority. We're already halfway there. Now is the time to Act!

You can contribute to a better world for women and girls! Pledge to do your part during these 88 days and convert your personal power into action and awareness.

Your pledge can be as simple as sharing your opinion on women's rights, or reading an article - or it can be as large as hosting a dinner party in honor of womens' rights, taking part in an event or making a speech.

Make your pledge to make women’s rights a special priority today!
deadline: 1-17-2009

I have made my personal mission to share information, resources and local services to all in our community, with a special focus on women's and LGBTIQQ rights. Speaking out about my beliefs and experiences is the most powerful way I am able to contribute to change. I also am committed to VOTING in all elections, civic, provincial and federal, and encourage others to educate themselves on the issues, candidates and to VOTE.

I am all for making "human rights" a priority, and women fall into that category. Being a woman, who's now in her early 60's, I've watched the trends change slowly, just not quickly enough to suit my imagination. We are "World Citizens"!!! There is no excuse for anyone - male, female, gay, lesbian, bi-sexual,Christian,Pagan,Buddhist,Hinduist, or non-believer of any form. To be persecuted for their beliefs, their sexuality, or their political persuasion in this day and age and the fact that it is still an issue in this country and all others, is appalling and archaic in nature. Certain people seem to need to dominate others by coercion and fear. There is also the need to rebell against it by those of us who'll stand up to it. I, personally will continue to fight to the death for the rights of the under-dog as long as the underdog is not an abusive human, a sexual preditor, or a warmonging jerk. It is those very people who think they should have the right to control others and do so when they get the opportunity. Freedom entails responsibilty - if everyone took responsibility for their actions, we wouldn't need leaders of countries to tell us what to think or do. We would know for sure ourselves.

I've struggled all my life for equal rights and will continue to do so, especially with my many women friends. Hard to choose a cause; they are all very important!
