Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program!

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Care2.com
Alaska is truly our nation's last frontier. It is also the last place in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to chase and kill wolves. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank.

Thirty five years ago, Congress passed a law to put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice, not only for wolves, but bears as well. Hundreds of scientists have condemned what Alaska is doing, even as other states threaten to follow Alaska's lead. It's time to stop aerial hunting once and for all.

Rep. George Miller (CA) has introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, legislation to close a federal loophole and curb Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program -- and prevent programs like it from spreading to places like the Greater Yellowstone region.

Please urge your Representative to sign on as a cosponsor to Rep. George Miller's PAW Act.

As one of your constituents, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of "aerial hunting" in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves.

I also understand that officials in Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies.

That's why I'm asking you to sign on as a cosponsor to H.R. 3663, the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, introduced by Rep. George Miller. The PAW Act would end needless and cruel aerial hunting of wolves and other wildlife by closing a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act of 1972.

Wolves are necessary part of eco system. They are beautiful and gentle and intelligent. They do not bother humans. Why are we bothering them? Stop being cruel to animals. Who said people were more important than other creatures on earth? We are all necessary parts of mother nature.

I've owned wolf hybrids for over 15 years. They are the most sensitive loving creatures i have come to encounter. They deserve to live with respect. Please STOP the killing!

This is atrocious!!! I am disgusted by the behaviour of these individuals which have to kill an innocent animal to boost their own self esteem issues. People that perform these acts need serious help! This MUST be STOPPED immediately!!

Wow, what a lame and pathetic way to hunt! Like the animal stand s achance, maybe we should do that to you! We need our wolves to balance the eco system, the hunters on the other hand, well they can go!

I am ashamed of the human race in the barbaric manner that animals are treated. Aerial hunting is a horrific, unnecessary unsportsmanlike practice that needs to end. Alaskans have twice voted to stop this policy, but the state government continues to allow wolves to be needlessly slaughtered from the skies. Nearly 700 wolves have been killed this way -- and another season has already begun. Sincerely Marisa Tucci

I would hope to make you understand the very unique quality of these beautiful animals. Wolves have always been a source of fiction and fantasy...until recently when scientists and researchers have realized their contribution to the ecosystem. To have these animals slaughtered in such an inhumane way is unconscionable. PLEASE vote FOR the PAW Act. Protect these unique creatures who hurt no one and only take what they need to survive. I remain respectfully yours.

This is inhumane and sad that we have to unfairly hunt these beautiful creatures down like that. If there is a LAW against it, then WHY is it still happening???? It needs to be addressed and stopped!!!!!!!!!!
