Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program!

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Care2.com

Alaska is truly our nation's last frontier. It is also the last place in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to chase and kill wolves. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank.

Congress passed a law thirty five years ago to put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice, not only for wolves, but bears as well. Hundreds of scientists have condemned what Alaska is doing, even as other states threaten to follow Alaska's lead. It's time to stop aerial hunting once and for all.

Rep. George Miller (CA) has introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, legislation to close a federal loophole and curb Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program -- and prevent programs like it from spreading to places like the Greater Yellowstone region.

Please urge your Representative to sign on as a cosponsor to Rep. George Miller's PAW Act.

As one of your constituents, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of "aerial hunting" in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves.

I also understand that officials in Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies.

That's why I'm asking you to sign on as a cosponsor to H.R. 3663, the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, introduced by Rep. George Miller. The PAW Act would end needless and cruel aerial hunting of wolves and other wildlife by closing a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act of 1972.

these beautiful creatures don't deserve this. there is no sport in this act of sheer barbarism and cowardice on animals that want to live peacefully. wolves mean a great deal to me being animals that capture me in there elegance and beauty. this is wrong and anyone who doesn't think so, well it's a shame laws protect them and not peaceful creatures of this world.

Beyond the fact that hunting anything not for your own survival is inhumane, shooting an animal regardless of type FROM THE AIR is just disgustingly cowardly. Any elected official that doesn't speak up about this issue is equally repulsive in my view, and whose inaction borders on criminality. As we have seen in years past with more and more frustration, it is getting exceedingly difficult for most any Congressman to get off their ass to do ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING that is colored with a shade of morality, regarding man OR animal. I'll simply say that like a lot of others, my vote, volunteer work and campaign contribution in the next election cycle is dependent upon on your action to clearly and deliberately do the right thing. Not on whether the gun and hunting industry lines your pockets with treasure at the expense of the public trust. For God's sake, the LEAST you can do for your paycheck is protect the helpless WILDLIFE.

Killing other animals is a false sense of power, especially when using weapons that create a feeling of detachment- not like a spear where the killer constiously drives it into it's victim till death.

Our wildlife was put here for us by God stop killing them. We have a right given to us no man should be able to destroy it. In front and back of my fathers house we used to watch the deers and the foes. The foxes, the rabbits now industrialization and hunting has taken that from us. What right did God give them to take that Joy from us. It is different it it was needed for famine but it is not. Stop destroying our world.

Yet another animal senselessly hunted by man. What gives man the right to singlehandedly wipe out any species that it sees fit? Just STOP. I'd like future generations to be able to see these creatures in their natural habitat not just on film.

Please don't let anymore wolves be killed. Wolves are amazing creatures and are a necessary part of our ecosystem. The lives of wolves are being taken at the expense for hunters' "rights" and the money generated by them. This lacks any respect for the sacredness of our earth and the creatures we share it with.
