Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program!

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Care2.com

Alaska is truly our nation's last frontier. It is also the last place in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to chase and kill wolves. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank.

Congress passed a law thirty five years ago to put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice, not only for wolves, but bears as well. Hundreds of scientists have condemned what Alaska is doing, even as other states threaten to follow Alaska's lead. It's time to stop aerial hunting once and for all.

Rep. George Miller (CA) has introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, legislation to close a federal loophole and curb Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program -- and prevent programs like it from spreading to places like the Greater Yellowstone region.

Please urge your Representative to sign on as a cosponsor to Rep. George Miller's PAW Act.

As one of your constituents, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of "aerial hunting" in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves.

I also understand that officials in Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies.

That's why I'm asking you to sign on as a cosponsor to H.R. 3663, the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, introduced by Rep. George Miller. The PAW Act would end needless and cruel aerial hunting of wolves and other wildlife by closing a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act of 1972.

Aerial hunting is for inhumane individuals who utilize modern convenience to facilitate a sick, demented idea of "sport" and/or "management". A good, enforced law must be enlisted to manage this cruel behavior & practice out of the sky. Wolves have a right to life without aerial, or any other kind of trophy hunting. Let's see now - what century is this? Oh, yeah, that's right - it's still the stone age (mentality, that is).

Wolves are a symbol of women's healthy nature. This nature is wild and therefore wolves and healthy women have been demonized and seen fit to kill physically and spiritually. Women and wolves are beautiful and deserve to live in peace as nature not patriarchy intended!

I personally know someone who brought home two "trophy" wolves from Alaska that he killed in this way. I despised this man before he did this (he is also busy killing in Africa and South America anything that countries there will allow by fair means or foul); now I am convinced not only of his corruptness, but of the corruption of any government that makes killing so easy and available. No life is sacred when the victims aren't given a chance. I only wish all guilty parties could wind up like the animals they kill: stuffed in someone's living room.

Although I am not an US Citizen I do urge you to safeguard and protect the wildlife in your region. You've been given or rather "taken" a large area of the globe and made it yours so being good caretakers is the least of the expectations we put forth. Please do stop the trophy hunting -- and hunting for sports in general.

Only a coward would shoot a helpless creature. Doing it by air makes it more disturbing.

I don't know why these people are hunting wolves, but whatever the reason may be, it's not worth the lives of these animals, who deserve to live long and happy lives just like the rest of us. Every creature on this earth has the right to live, who are we to take that away from them?

I find it disgraceful that the intent of the law is ignored and shocked at ethics of the perpetrators. Aerial hunting is not only despicable but it undermines public confidence in the governance of our wildlife and natural heritage.

Wolves are beautiful animals that should be left to roam in peace. It's truly disgusting to know the barbaric things that are done to such beautiful animals & therefore they should be stopped.
