Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program!

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Care2.com

Alaska is truly our nation's last frontier. It is also the last place in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to chase and kill wolves. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank.

Congress passed a law thirty five years ago to put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice, not only for wolves, but bears as well. Hundreds of scientists have condemned what Alaska is doing, even as other states threaten to follow Alaska's lead. It's time to stop aerial hunting once and for all.

Rep. George Miller (CA) has introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, legislation to close a federal loophole and curb Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program -- and prevent programs like it from spreading to places like the Greater Yellowstone region.

Please urge your Representative to sign on as a cosponsor to Rep. George Miller's PAW Act.

As one of your constituents, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of "aerial hunting" in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves.

I also understand that officials in Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies.

That's why I'm asking you to sign on as a cosponsor to H.R. 3663, the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, introduced by Rep. George Miller. The PAW Act would end needless and cruel aerial hunting of wolves and other wildlife by closing a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act of 1972.

WE are the enemy with all our EXPANSION of housing and development and find the need to KILL othe inhabitants. Now that the Gov. of Alaska will win and be VP she should set the example and and keep Alaska's wildlife safe from humans instead of safe from wildlife.

If we can shoot and kill innocent wolves I guess its alright to shoot and kill anything that lives including humans. Why not just go to the extreme and make all killing legal!!!!! Then we can kill everything and anything we desire!!!!

These animals have rights. They have the natural born right to try and defend themselves or get away from their predators. Aerial hunting denies them these rights. As lawmakers, it is your duty to defend the helpless. As your constituent, I expect you to do your job and protect America's wildlife.

It is not wolves that threaten the cariboo. It is humans, our greed, and our dependence on oil. Why should the wolves pay with their lives, for our selfish lifestyles?

Trophy hunting is a form of mental illness; it is caused by low self-esteem and overcompensation. When there are alternative solutions to killing, Thou shalt not kill.

Please protect the wolves in America and do not allow inhumane and barbaric practices to continue. It is unconscionable to allow "aerial hunting" because many wolves are then injured instead of being killed and must suffer unnecessarily. This practice is cruel and inhumane.

It is also illegal to stake out dens to do aerial hunting, & 35 years ago Congress passed a law to do away with the practice, so what's being done is actually purely criminal. You don't want to be on that side, do you? Maybe the wolves & bears can be relocated somewhere in our vast wildernesses or national parks system so that they won't decimate the caribou population. Surely this is a better idea than killing these natural, needed-in-the-right-areas predators.

Back in the mid 90's I did a research paper invesyigating the reintroduction of the Grey Wolfs. I was so happy to see it come to be. The natural ballance of the wild one step forward. To hear this news of the killing of the 28 wolves makes me sick to my stomach and sad beyond words. I HAve three young sons who I have told of the rebound of the wolves. How do explain the inhumanity in this action. The people involved in the lawless killing of the wolves should be sent to prison for a very long time and pay fines to cover the replacement of the animals. Have we lerntnothing from the past. You do not mess with the top preditors. It will come back to bite you in the behind.

The human race must stop destroying the ecosystem now. Making species go extinct will collapse it and it keeps humans alive as well. Killing of wolves is cruel and unnecessary. Please work to stop it now

Wolves are part of our ecological system. The brutal annihilation of God's creatures will upset the balance even further. Please stop this airborne hunting.
