Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program!

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Care2.com

Alaska is truly our nation's last frontier. It is also the last place in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to chase and kill wolves. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank.

Congress passed a law thirty five years ago to put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice, not only for wolves, but bears as well. Hundreds of scientists have condemned what Alaska is doing, even as other states threaten to follow Alaska's lead. It's time to stop aerial hunting once and for all.

Rep. George Miller (CA) has introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, legislation to close a federal loophole and curb Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program -- and prevent programs like it from spreading to places like the Greater Yellowstone region.

Please urge your Representative to sign on as a cosponsor to Rep. George Miller's PAW Act.

As one of your constituents, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of "aerial hunting" in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves.

I also understand that officials in Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies.

That's why I'm asking you to sign on as a cosponsor to H.R. 3663, the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, introduced by Rep. George Miller. The PAW Act would end needless and cruel aerial hunting of wolves and other wildlife by closing a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act of 1972.

We could learn from the woolves. They are wise. Kiiling them it's a crime against one of the most best part of human nature. Shame on all those coward hunters who are using technology because they don't have the guts to stand in front of a woolf and fight him.

It is things such as this that make the Human race look bad. The use of barbaric practices such as "aerial hunting" against such a beautiful creature. You call them animals but if there animals what does that make you for allowing such Cruelty to walk by you Defacing the human race and kill a spices that only wants to live just like you want to live. How would you like to be run down for miles thinking you just might make it back home to your famliy and friends only to fall to the ground from exhaustion somthing walks up you shoots you at point blank range laughing and hangs you head on a wall beside your monther your brother sister son daughter your best friend and your wife. All you want to do is live right? Well your head is on someones wall you where only part of someones game...there sport as they call it. like you use to play be for you where put on a wall.

I am PRO LIFE - I support the protection of all life - especially wildlife - which is at the mercy of hunters. Please protect wildlife such as our wolves for future generations. If hunting must exist, then it needs to be on a fair basis - where wolves are give shotguns and can fire back at the hunters.

You know these so called "aerial hunters" give hunting a bad name. To acutally shoot wolves from the air gives an unfair advantage. A real hunt is supposed to be man against animal not this ridiculous aerial hunting. Wolves are an important part of this world and we have to learn to co exist.

One of this days if you want to tell your children the big bad wolf story you will have to explain what is a wolf. Why? Because one of this days there will be no wolfs to see.

I cannot understand killing for killing sake. It surprises me that anyone would even THINK of shooting any animals from planes. Please stop the killing. Wolves have a place in the world too. NO AERIAL HUNTING. Please support this.

Why would anyone hunt like this, but than why do people still hunt. For those that do hunt like this, shame..It is ruthless killing, and if you would kill an animal like that, than you are less than human...I was raised around hunting. The animal was never killed for sport, but, put on the table to help feed the family. Those times are long gone, and we need to stop the barbaric slaughter of these beautiful animals and any so call "sport hunting" Put the hunter on the ground.

I understand the need for population control, however, make it a true hunt and use your cunning, not a helicopter. There is no dignity in hunting when you cheat.

This practice needs to stop now -- what on earth is its purpose. It is disturbing to see how one person, Sarah Palin, can control the future of Alaskan wolves with such cruel intentions. These animals and all others are here for a purpose, too, and if their destiny is maliciously controlled by such heartless people as Palin, we will pay the price for their eventual extinction.

I believe hunting should be illegal PERIOD. Why should we express such a violent act for a "trophy?" I would understand killing an animal if it was personally attacking you or if it was survival of the fittest and in need of food, but this is the first sign of violence in a person and it should be stopped immediately.
