Support the PAW Act - End Alaska's Aerial Hunting Program!

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Care2.com

Alaska is truly our nation's last frontier. It is also the last place in the U.S. where a few hunters still use aircraft to chase and kill wolves. They shoot these animals from the air or chase them to exhaustion before landing and shooting them point blank.

Congress passed a law thirty five years ago to put an end to aerial hunting. But Alaska is exploiting a loophole in federal law to resume the practice, not only for wolves, but bears as well. Hundreds of scientists have condemned what Alaska is doing, even as other states threaten to follow Alaska's lead. It's time to stop aerial hunting once and for all.

Rep. George Miller (CA) has introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, legislation to close a federal loophole and curb Alaska's brutal aerial hunting program -- and prevent programs like it from spreading to places like the Greater Yellowstone region.

Please urge your Representative to sign on as a cosponsor to Rep. George Miller's PAW Act.

As one of your constituents, I am very concerned about the barbaric practice of "aerial hunting" in Alaska, in which state officials are allowing trophy hunters to use aircraft to run down and kill wolves.

I also understand that officials in Wyoming and Idaho are considering the use of aerial hunting of wolves by federal and state agencies.

That's why I'm asking you to sign on as a cosponsor to H.R. 3663, the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, introduced by Rep. George Miller. The PAW Act would end needless and cruel aerial hunting of wolves and other wildlife by closing a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act of 1972.

It's wrong to try to cull a part of Alaska's ecosystem. The earth tends toward a natural balance when it's treated appropriately and killing just for killing's sake is not a good method for keeping things in balance.

The term "aerial hunting" is insulting to any one with half a brain, and should be insulting to all of you who are representing U.S. citizens in Congress. The killing of wolves or any wildlife through massive air hunts is nothing short of "aerial massacre" or murder from the air. There once was a prescience shown by our leaders and representatives as exemplified by the creation of national parks, steps taken to preserve all species. But that moral and responsible foresight has fallen prey to capitalism and to greed. In a perversion of our belief systems, both governmental and our faiths, corporate greed and big business have hijacked all reason and morality. No one would ever consider allowing the aerial murder of the wolf unless there were a profit to be had, one way or another. If there is anything that can be learned from history, from science, and simply by listening to one's soul, it is this: now is the time to take charge. Rather than continuing down a corrupt path, letting corporate quests for higher bottom lines dictate our policies, it is time for our government, our leaders, and our representatives to adopt and to follow policies that control and govern corporate greed, as required by law. This is our country. It is not an entity to be run by corporate entities and by greed. As our representatives, you are charged with upholding the Constitution, representing the people and not business bottom lines. Support PAW, the Protect America's Wildlife Act, and take the first step of the rest of your public service towards a lawful and proper tenure as a representative of the citizens of this country.

If we don't have the intelligence to save the wolves from inhialation, as well as numerous other species, how can we expect to save the human species??? We are not God, we have no right to choose what beings are allowed to remain on the planet and which should be deleted. The more we interfere with nature's balance, the more we endanger the entire planet.

The day wolves use gund and fly planes is the day this "hunt" can be considered fair or sporting. This practice is an assault on nature and ethical behavior.
