We Need a New Attorney General!

Target: President George W. Bush
Sponsored by: Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has abused his power. Tell President Bush to fire him immediately!

Gonzales' role in the Justice Department's firing of eight federal prosecutors and other abuses of power make it clear that he has not acted properly in his role.

The House Judiciary committee is continuing its investigation into this serious matter and will examine the White House's involvement in this scandal.

Democrats will continue to fight to ensure U.S. Attorneys are free from political pressure and have the tools they need to prosecute criminals, and that the languishing investigations into public corruption are completed. As the nation's prosecutor, the Attorney General is too important to play politics.

THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW. TELL PRESIDENT BUSH WE NEED A NEW ATTORNEY GENERAL!
deadline: 3-19-2008

Gonzales (with your approval, of course)has used a provision of the Patriot Act, granting authority to appoint US Attorneys without congressional approval, not to fight terrorism, but to reward political allies.

Mr. President, your adiministration is a sinking ship. Let the people at least get off on life boats. Fire this inept and partisan member of your appointed staff and put someone there who will do the job the way it was intended. Enough of favortism and politics, this position is supposed be like justice, blind to any one view, only the rule of law. Thank you. And I hope you start to listen to the people, not your own ego.

President Bush says that he will not allow a "partisan fishing expedition." Why was he willing to allow a partisan witch hunt, ousting attorneys who did not meet his loyalty criteria and replacing them with "Interim" attorneys who would not require confirmation. Impeach this entire administration and put Karl Rove in prison!

The corrupt must be dismissed and the caring and compassionate welcomed aboard. Put the trash out before the entire house absorbs the stench and cut some fresh flowers while you're at it.

I realize that Bush does not acknowledge these petitions, because I have received many messages from the White House letting me know he doesn't, and then advising me to write to him individually. But I feel it is important to view my opinion anyway. I want to go on record as condemning this attorney general, who not only advocates torture but also believes he does not have to raise his right hand and take an oath when he appears before Congress. The unmitigated gall of the sycophant Gonzales and his puppetmasters, Bush/Cheney/Rove, has got to be quelled. Gonzales talks about "mistakes being made"; excuse me, but a mistake is buying the wrong kind of toothpaste when your mother sends you to the store for groceries - it ISN'T firing US attorneys and lying about the reason for it. Guess what? This morning, I heard in Bush's speech from yesterday that the attorneys "resigned." I think that is a new record for the Bush propaganda machine's "doublespeak" program!! GET RID OF GONZALES. WE DON'T NEED AN ATTORNEY GENERAL WHO WHINES THAT HE'S OVERCOME GREAT OBSTACLES TO BE WHERE HE IS TODAY!! As far as I'm concerned, he has NOT come a long way from the grovelling infant he once was....

I think I read some time ago that Mr. Gonzales goes back with Shrub (our glorious unelected leader) to Shrub's first failed run for political office in Texas, when he was still drinking. I believe Mr. Gonzales worked for a law firm with which the Senior Bush had close ties, and Mr. Gonzales first job was to rescue Shrub from himself by answering DUI charges in court. Perhaps I misremember, but that would explain the fierce loyalty to an attorney who signed off on torture statutes, and allowed Karl Rove ("Bush's Brain") to install one of his personal friends in a fired federal prosecutor's newly opened position. You really have to love the chutzpa of a presidentially appointed office that rates Peter Fitzgerald as "mediocre", and themselves as competent "deciders." Reminiscent of "You're doing a good job, Brownie." Don't they have a mirror? Ears? Read? Time to replace Gonzales....and the group that brought him to power.

This is not the way my Republican parents told me we were viewed in the world. We are now just another 3rd world counrty being run by warlords and their cronies. Sad sad sad
