Stop the stealth attack on our National Parks!

The Bush administration has launched yet another stealth attack on America's most treasured wild places - our National Parks.
Their plan would dramatically reduce protections for our parks, which could lead to increased off-road vehicle use, additional commercialization, smog and other forms of degradation.
These changes could erode the look and feel of places like Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon. We only have until February 18 to weigh in on this outrageous proposal.

Our national parks should be left "forever wild" -- and, to me, that means no exploitation for commercial purpsoes, including seeking mineral extraction, drilling for oil, gas, coal, you-name-it. There should be limited improvements to allow people reasonably easy access to sufficient areas so the public can enjoy them -- but large portions should be accessible only by hiking in, or some other environmentally benign method of entry. These parklands are a treasure, not a source of revenue. We need to cherish and protect them, not exploit them.

Today, Republicans seem intent on destroying that system of conservation. We, the people, must now stand united against the internal enemy of our nation, The Republican party, which seems intent on doing more harm to our water, land, and air than any terrorists have.
