Protect Darfur Women and Their Daughters from Abuse and Genocide

Target: President Bush and the UN Secretary-General
Sponsored by: Save Darfur Coalition
Right now there is a terrible government-sponsored genocide taking place in Darfur, Sudan. Over 2.5 million people have already been driven from their homes and hundreds of thousands more have been brutally murdered by the Janjaweed, a government-sponsored militia.

Darfuri women and girls are under constant threat of rape and physical assault by the Janjaweed. Girls as young as eight risk being raped and attacked when they leave their homes or refugee camps to gather firewood and food. Hungry families face a terrible choice each day - do they send out their husbands and sons who may be killed, or their mothers and daughters, who may be raped and beaten? This is a choice no one should ever have to make!

Please join the Save Darfur Coalition in speaking up for these women and girls who have no voice. Sign the petition asking the UN Secretary-General and President Bush to take immediate steps to stop the genocide.
deadline: 12-4-2007

Dear [Decision Maker]

Everyday, the 2.5 million people chased from their homes in Darfur face the threat of starvation, disease, and rape, while the few lucky enough to remain in their homes risk displacement, torture, and murder. Therefore, we call on you to do the following:

- Push for the immediate deployment of the already-authorized UN peacekeeping force.

- Strengthen the understaffed African Union force already in Darfur until the UN force can be deployed.

- Increase humanitarian aid and ensure access for delivery.

- Establish a no-fly zone.

That we are in Iraq and not Darfur exceeds the limits of reason and is unforgivable - and we WILL pay - the truly unreconcilable fact is that it will be through the suffering and torture of our progeny. Please, Please, acknowledge what is happening in Darfur for the sake of all mankind.

No one should suffer as the people in Darfur are suffering and being treated. If they can be given help why are we not there!

It's long overdue to stop the genocide in Darfur. We should have been there instead of Iraq. God's wisdom is much higher than ours. Someday we will give an answer to God for the killing we've done and the killing we've ignored.

It is important to stop the crisis in Darfur,, because the UN has been proven very ineffective before, in such situations in Rawanda before. Also, this has been going on for awhile, and something needs to be done.

Because they are starving!!!!!! Quit the crap in Irak. Give all your money earned from the war to Africa. Then we think you're a noble man.

Exactly what is it going to take to get you people to pay attention to the horror that is going on in Darfur? It's been on the television, the radio and in the papers and you still do nothing? How dare you? Have you no conscience at all? Do the screams of the women and children not haunt your sleep? I know that we can not police the world but there are times when we MUST step in and put an end to such things as genocide and this is one of those times. I will pray for those poor victims in Darfur, and then I will pray for you as well. I will pray that you will receive forgiveness for closing your eyes your minds and most of all your hearts to the needs of those people.

I am very upset that the US has not taken action for the people of Darfur and Sudan. They greatly need our help for they are innocent and powerless. It seems we only help other countries who have something profitable to give back to us. Let's stop being SELFISH and start being HUMANE. The people of Darfur and Sudan deserve our concern and protection. We are a powerful country and there is no excuse not to help.

To stand and allow tyranny is horrible. I do understand the notion of sovereignity of nations and nation states. however please realize that red tape only allows for more to suffer. We did not allow hitler to kill those of jewish descent, why allow this either? Are they not the same thing? I doubt you read this, but if you do, take it to heart.

Which efforts cost more time or money and/or would reap more results; Iraq, Afganistan or Dafur? 5+ years in Iraq vs. too little effort in Sudan! Do something that we can proudly remember you for.

Why is it possible to invade Iraq and not possible to stop this crime against humanity? Please do everything in our power to stop this physical and emotional slaughter, even if it not politically advantageous.
