Protect Darfur Women and Their Daughters from Abuse and Genocide

Target: President Bush and the UN Secretary-General
Sponsored by: Save Darfur Coalition
Right now there is a terrible government-sponsored genocide taking place in Darfur, Sudan. Over 2.5 million people have already been driven from their homes and hundreds of thousands more have been brutally murdered by the Janjaweed, a government-sponsored militia.

Darfuri women and girls are under constant threat of rape and physical assault by the Janjaweed. Girls as young as eight risk being raped and attacked when they leave their homes or refugee camps to gather firewood and food. Hungry families face a terrible choice each day - do they send out their husbands and sons who may be killed, or their mothers and daughters, who may be raped and beaten? This is a choice no one should ever have to make!

Please join the Save Darfur Coalition in speaking up for these women and girls who have no voice. Sign the petition asking the UN Secretary-General and President Bush to take immediate steps to stop the genocide.
deadline: 12-4-2007

Dear [Decision Maker]

Everyday, the 2.5 million people chased from their homes in Darfur face the threat of starvation, disease, and rape, while the few lucky enough to remain in their homes risk displacement, torture, and murder. Therefore, we call on you to do the following:

- Push for the immediate deployment of the already-authorized UN peacekeeping force.

- Strengthen the understaffed African Union force already in Darfur until the UN force can be deployed.

- Increase humanitarian aid and ensure access for delivery.

- Establish a no-fly zone.

The continuing impact on the populace of the African continent is appauling. There must be something that can be done to stop, or at least limit or reduce the ongoing destruction of human life and create a viable environment for people there to live. I do not presume to have answers as to the best approach to the problem. I only ask that the world take as much interest in these people as it does elsewhere.

God created all things - people, animals, flowers, and all other living things. It is only God who should be the ONE who decides who lives or dies.

President Bush, you are so concerned with other countries welfare; how about protecting the abused women in Darfur? Should that not take priority over other issues that should not concern the USA. Take action now!

Well Bush you rushed over to Iraq for some huge profits for yourself and all your friends. Now I know this is not a money maker for you, but since you have lost your shimmer why not do what you can this time for the people of Darfur. What have you got to loose.

How sad that the USA does not just step in and help the innocents, we have to petition our leaders and convince them do the right thing.

There are no reasons or arguments strong enough to justify genocide. Please do whatever you can to stop the killing in Darfur. An entire culture is being destroyed as we watch from afar. We knew the right thing to do in WW II when innocent Jews were being slaughtered, why are we hesitant now?? Stand up for the innocent women and children of this suffering country.
