Protect Darfur Women and Their Daughters from Abuse and Genocide
Target:President Bush and the UN Secretary-General Sponsored by:Save Darfur Coalition
Right now there is a terrible government-sponsored genocide taking place in Darfur, Sudan. Over 2.5 million people have already been driven from their homes and hundreds of thousands more have been brutally murdered by the Janjaweed, a government-sponsored militia.
Darfuri women and girls are under constant threat of rape and physical assault by the Janjaweed. Girls as young as eight risk being raped and attacked when they leave their homes or refugee camps to gather firewood and food. Hungry families face a terrible choice each day - do they send out their husbands and sons who may be killed, or their mothers and daughters, who may be raped and beaten? This is a choice no one should ever have to make!
Please join the Save Darfur Coalition in speaking up for these women and girls who have no voice. Sign the petition asking the UN Secretary-General and President Bush to take immediate steps to stop the genocide.
We signed the “Protect Darfur Women and Their Daughters from Abuse and Genocide” petition!

It's time for America to stand tall and protect the unprotected. No military, just diplomacy and money.

The mistreatment of women in any country is a great threat to this world in general. See how the women of Afghanistan were mistreated by the Taliban and no one did anything until 9/11 and the threat to THIS country was found to be hiding in the Afghan Mountains. When power is abused and turned against women and children in particular, in Darfur and elsewhere, it is a crime against ALL humanity. It also hints that this will bring even more totalitarian and abusive government actions in the future, and that often leaders of that type support and or hide other dangerous political criminals in their borders. Do not let the women of Darfur suffer these atrocities any longer...DO SOMETHING!
Thank you for your attention to these crucial matters.

The Democratic leadership will have plenty on its plate these next two years. In order to reverse the mistakes, the wrongs, and the negligence this adminsitration has inflicted on the world, stopping this humanitarian crisis should be considered among our top priorities.

We have a moral obligation to help those less fortunate than us. This country is experiencing things we cannot comprehend, while we sleep in our warm beds at night. Shame on us.

PLEASE, PLEASE use your bully pulpit to stop the killing and displacement in Darfur; you have addressed the issue forcefully, but the disproportionate pain being delivered upon women and children needs a firmer hand, which only you can provide.

President Bush and Secretary General Annan, you both do not need to be told "why you should stop this"...How could you possibly not know why and continue to watch this happening without acting? What do you think God would want you to do?
