Incredibly, America has no law against importing illegally harvested wood into the U.S. Yet the insatiable demand for cheap wood products and luxury hardwoods in the United States, Europe and Japan drives illegal logging operations worldwide -- logging that destroys vital habitat for endangered orangutans, tigers, and other wildlife.
Take action now to save orangutans and other wildlife threatened by illegal logging. Urge your Senators to support the Wyden-Alexander Amendment to the 2007 Federal Farm Bill which would make it a crime in America to knowingly import, sell, buy or transport illegally-sourced wood and wood products.
We signed the “Stop Illegal Logging and Protect Wildlife Worldwide” petition!

This is a real problem as I used to import wood products from Indonesia, but I imported soft fruit woods used in novelities.

Why should our needs be greater than the orangutan? Let's put a stop to illegal harvesting and set an example for other nations to do the same!

We have more than enough of everything we need right here in our states.. there is no reason to be importing wood product that will have a major impact on wildlife, and extinction of any type of species. Orangutan should now be put onto the endangered species list, and their environment protected. Please do what's right.

We waste millions of trees by landfilling wood and paper products every year, yet the world is struggling with maintaining the balqance of nature that keeps us all alive and well. This mindset will kill us all eventually, if it is not changed. We have a moral obligation to pass on a world that is as good as the one we came into to our children. The almighty dollar won't matter when we have wasted our world's resources for it's sake.

We can't stop ecological disaster with talk--it takes action: in this case, the action of refraining from greedy exploitation of the Earth. Please ban the import of products made of illegally-logged woods. Thank you.

The world is focused on monetary values and not these wonderful creatures. What an awful planet it would be without animals. Save them from extinction.

We have laws that limit the amount of pets someone owns, why don't we have one to help prevent illegal logging? Stop this madness now, for the earth's sake if not our own.
