Protect Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest

Target: Forest Supervisor Bruce Ramsey
Sponsored by: The Wilderness Society
Home to grizzly bears, moose, mountain goats and many other species, the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is a crucial part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Stretching across 18 mountain ranges, this three-million-acre forest is the crown jewel of southwest Montana.

But each year, more and more illegal routes are carved into this forest by off-road vehicle riders, putting unhealthy stress on wildlife and chewing up their habitat.

Help us win permanent protection for the wilderness and wildlife habitat on this forest. Tell the Forest Service you value wilderness above recreation for a privileged minority of ORV users.

Dear Supervisor Ramsey,

Healthy wildlands and pure water are two essential ingredients for wildlife to thrive. The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest has these in spades.

As a citizen who cares about the future of Montana's wildlife, water quality and wilderness heritage, I strongly support the maximum possible amount of recommended wilderness (706,000 acres) be included in the final version of the BHDL forest plan. As you know, wilderness status provides long-term insurance for important wildlife including wolverines, grizzly bears, and elk. Also, please ensure the protection of wildlife habitat through the adoption of scientific standards that recommend less than one mile of road per square mile of forest.

Finally, please don't let political pressure from the Idaho snowmobile lobby strip protection from any of the lands under consideration for status as recommended wilderness.

Sincerely,

Let the animals have somewhere to call home, keep vehicles away so that the animals can live in peace,we have taken too much from the animals to not give some back.

ORVs are NOT part of the Natural Environment our National Parks were made to preserve. It is well within your authority to regulate type of use for our lands. You would not be denying access, you would be limiting modes of transportation. Next, we'll see Monster Trucks demanding access to the "mud runs" that are in the Park! Please say NO to the ORV riders & lobbyists.

Because it's important we protect the last places where there's still wildnerness and wildlife, otherwise we will destroy everything in our way and soon there's going to be nothing left!
