Stand Tall for America: Support Health Care for All!

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: Stand Tall for America

It's time for universal health care.  Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) has proposed the Healthy Americans Act, and it would guarantee everyone health care that is:

  • Universal. Every American will have guaranteed health care.
  • Comprehensive.  A high quality plan - as good as what members of Congress get.
  • Portable.  It's your health care, and you can take it with you if you change jobs, are laid off, go to school, start a new business, or become too sick to work.
  • Non-discriminatory.  We'll ban "pre-existing conditions" and make sure that every pays a fair price for equal, high quality, coverage.
  • Affordable.  Under $40,000 income?  You'll pay less than you do now.  Under $150,000 income?  You'll pay about $1 a day more than today for guaranteed coverage.

Can the Healthy Americans Act be a reality?  Yes.  There are already over a dozen bipartisan co-sponsors in the U.S. Senate.

Once the Healthy Americans Act passes, we will have universal, affordable, comprehensive, portable, high-quality, private health coverage - within one year.  There's no reason to wait.  The Act even saves money through wellness and prevention - $1.48 trillion in one respected, independent study.

The Healthy Americans Act puts you in charge of your health care choices, not your employer.  Every American will feel secure, knowing that your health care won't ever go away.  And 46 million Americans will get the comprehensive health care they need.

But we need your help to make the Healthy Americans Act a reality.  We need a few more Senators to sign on as co-sponsors - so tell your Senators to support the Healthy Americans Act today!

Dear Senator [Last Name]:

At this moment, 46 million Americans are uninsured. For workers and their families who have health insurance through their employers, many are afraid that they will lose coverage if they change jobs, are laid off, go to school or become too sick to work.

But the Healthy Americans Act, a bi-partisan health care reform plan by Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon), would guarantee every American universal, affordable, comprehensive, portable, high-quality, private health coverage that is as good or better than Members of Congress have today. The Act includes tough cost containment measures -- and would save Americans $1.45 trillion over the next decade.

The Healthy Americans Act:

- Guarantees private health care coverage that doesn't go away, even if you change jobs, lose your job, retire, go to school or become too sick to work.
- Provides a generous benefit equal to those of Members of Congress.

As a longtime educator in the Bronx in NY, I see children everyday who are not able to afford going to the doctor. They come to school sick, make others sick, and sometimes end up in the hospital. Early prevention means better productivity by children and their parents.

For such a progressive country, you are way behind Canada, the UK and France when it comes to health care. We are not denied surgery, we don't pay for it; most prescriptions are totally covered; medical insurance is affordable and easy to obtain; we don't go bankrupt trying to pay our medical bills. Americans deserve to be treated better than they are... no one should be denied good health care for any reason.

America is no longer the best place to live. What kind of people are we that people go without health care, especially preventative care? Raise taxes if you must. Let's think about priorities!

there is to many AMERICAN citizens without healthcare...people cannot afford to pay taxes and keep their health care up at the same time. don't you see what's happening. I know your not blind, but sooner or later, when you take things for granted, things will turn around on you, and don't laugh, but you could be in the same boat, & you or one of your loved ones won't have the care they need, and it gets to you because you can't do anything to help.....I AM AN AMERICAN, BORN & RAISED. WE ARE TO STAND TOGETHER. AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT WAS INSTILLED IN ME....WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Health care for all must be a basic right. Why spending war with trillions of dollars and keeping your own civilians out of the reach of health care.

Here in Canada i dont have to pay for health care and it saddens me to read how many people down there work everyday of their lives paying off nasty hospital bills and dont even have any money left to spend on their families and homes. they cant pay so you take their homes and lives away. its absolutely disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourselves for taking advantage of the people you say you care the most about. not everyone is rich and your costs of everything are higher. here in Canada a simple inhaler for asthma is $18. so why do you charge $120 and yet you offer all your detainees free health care to terrorists?? You are an embarrassment around the world. you care more about about a war on false terms then your own people. IS oil really worth the lives of the American people?? you even turned your back on the heroes of 911 because you don't pay for the health care they are in dire need of. that is the worst thing i have ever heard. they save lives but because you did not test the air on that terrible day, you deny them? How can you even sleep at night knowing what these people go through?? i am so proud to be a Canadian with all my rights.
