Call on Canada's New Prime Minister to End the Seal Slaughter!

The largest commercial slaughter of marine mammals on the planet has begun in Canada.
By the end of the hunt, more than 320,000 seals are expected to be clubbed or shot to death by fishermen who hunt seals off-season to sell their skins. Almost all of their victims will be babies — some as young as 12 days old.
But there is new hope on the ice. Canada has a new Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, and a new party in power. With enough public support, they may consider ending this terrible hunt forever.

This is ludacris the way they are treating the seals. For a little extra money these people are slaughtering the seals! Even when they're still alive! No animal should have to suffer for the enjoyment of humans and for the small financial gain the hunters are receiving.

This is the largest ,behemoth, amount of animals I think I've ever heard you want to kill. I am totaly stunned, shocked and violated as a human species. you do not need these innocent lives for any reason other than you can kill, because they are vunerable and on the ice and cannot run from you. the way you do it so sadistic and barbaric. You do not need them for food or shelter. why keep taking. ? Make that land a sanctuary not a killing and murder field I will pray on this and tell others. Please have some humility and reserve when it comes to killing don't make it that common and easy . the way you do it is bad karma. Stop the slaughter don't make money off of them governments have so much wealth, you can money from all over from your investments. open more wild life parks before it is too late. other genrerations want to see God 's abundance. It is nothing like it was 500, 1000. or long ago. please have reason and vigilance. don't be so corrupted so easily. and keep hunters and so on happy. it is nonsense. no contest no fight no challenge.

My wife and I want our grandchildren -- and yours, too! -- to have at least as much opportunity as we do to enjoy nature and all its varied and wondrous wildlife all over the world. For nation that seems to have an understanding of the importance of Nature and who is vocal about the shortcomings of the United States in regards to pollution and the environment, you appear to have little regard for defenseless animals. Hasn't the economic impact of the boycott of Canadian seafood been enough to convince you that the world is watching and doesn't like what it sees? Perhaps a boycott of ALL Canadian products and tourism will begin to get through to you. It would truly be a shame to have to make more of your citizens suffer for something that most of them oppose. Aboriginals are not involved in the hunt although misinformation leads to this misnomer. The fisherman who fished out all the COD, and for years have been killing baby seal pups blaming the sealings for the lack of COD when it is MAN that fished out the COD, and the numbers of Seals is very low compared to when white men first landed and the ocean was so filled with COD THE BOATS HAD TO CHURN THROU THEM TO GET TO SHORE. The east coast of Canada has BANNED WHALE HUNTING & changed to Torism and is MAKING MILLIONS IF NOT MORE DOLLARS, AND WHERE IS MOST OF THAT GOING, FOR MANY OF THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPEL. If Whale Hunting can be banned and turned into tourism profit and help save the whales Canada can do the same for our seals, AND BABY SEALS WHICH YOU KEEP CHANGING YOUR DEFINITIN OF WHAT A BABY SEAL IS , SEALS AT 3 MONTHS OLD ARE BABYS, AND REGARDLESS THERE IS NO NEED FOR THIS SLAUGHTER ON ANY SCALE AND SHOUDL HAVE BEEN OUTLAWED AND NOT HELPED UP IN AN OBVIOUSLY UNEDUCATED COURT SYSTEM IN CANADA. Also with the ICE MELTING THIS YEAR DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING,T HE SEALS ARE HAVING TO GO ON SMALL ISLAND TO BIRTH INSTEAD OF THE ICE PACKS, CLOSING THEM IN CLOSER RANKS AND POSSIBLY EARLIER BIRTHING. AT THE VERY LEAST BECAUSE OF THIS THE SLAUGHTER/HUNT SHOULD BE BANNED FOR 2006, WITH AN PLAN TO BAN IT FOREVER. THIS IS ONE OF GOD'S, NATURES MOST PROFOUND EXPERIENCES ALL THESE SEALS COMING TO CANADA TO GIVE BIRTH AND IN SUCH LARGE NUMBERS, WHAT A SPECTICALE IT WOULD BE TO SEE, AS THE BIRTHING OF WHALES, NOT THE SLAUGHTER OF THEM. I AM ASHAMED OF MY OWN COUNTRY OH CANADA.

It is evident animals speak in a language that is NOT understood by humans. Let me help speak for them in a language you might understand. You are a mother seal. You have recently given birth. Strangers approach and fear is throughout your community. You have no where to go. No where to hide. You hear cries of death and agony all around you. You are trying to protect yourself and your pup. You see this stranger pick up your pup and skin it alive, listening to the death cries (by the way, if you have ever heard one, it will echo in your heart forever). You see blood and carnage everywhere. You are in shock and traumatized. Then, you are next. How does it feel to be skinned alive? How does it feel to be helpless with no way to escape? How does it feel as your skin is being ripped and your heart is already broken because of the death of your pup? Oh,I forgot. This is all for the dollar and greed. Sorry, just a temporary lapse in memory. Shame on you!!! As much protest as this issue has received and you continue in your mindless activity, my prayer is the next time you come back as a seal. Maybe that way, things will change after you feel what it is like to be slaughtered.
