Urge Congress to Permanently Protect the Arctic Refuge!

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is home to caribou, snow fox and millions of migratory birds. It is also the most important onshore denning habitat for America's vanishing polar bears.
But this natural treasure is constantly under siege. Time and time again, the oil industry and their allies in Congress have sought to open this special place to harmful new drilling, threatening all of the wildlife that depend on it for survival.
And now President Bush has called for drilling in the Arctic Refuge by 2010 in his new budget proposal!
We need to permanently protect the Arctic Refuge! Urge your Representative to support the Udall-Eisenhower Arctic Wilderness Act (H.R. 39) to permanently protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The solution is NOT to drill for more oil but to encourage people not to drive cars as much. Encourage them to walk, ride bikes, and take public transportation. Encourage them to carpool. We need to be less gas dependent, which means to change our habits and adjust to a changing world.

I know that we are looking at a crisis situation relative to energy, but that does not mean that we should start looking at drilling in the Artic National wildlife refuge again. We as a Nation have the ability to look to other resources, such as oil shales/ sands, and re-opening existing wells that have been previously not as cost effective. As a Nation we must develope a stronger Energy policy that takes us away from Petroleum and moves us to more sustainable/ renewable sources of Energy. As our voices in Congress we urge you to listen to the public, and not Big business and support H.R. 39

Protect the artic from oil drilling. Get off oil! The sooner we get off oil the better everyone is! All you have to do is stop oil!/coal and all hyrdrocarbons!!!
