Urge Congress to Permanently Protect the Arctic Refuge!
Target:U.S. House of Representatives Sponsored by:Care2
The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is home to caribou, snow fox and millions of migratory birds. It is also the most important onshore denning habitat for America's vanishing polar bears.
But this natural treasure is constantly under siege. Time and time again, the oil industry and their allies in Congress have sought to open this special place to harmful new drilling, threatening all of the wildlife that depend on it for survival.
And now President Bush has called for drilling in the Arctic Refuge by 2010 in his new budget proposal!
We need to permanently protect the Arctic Refuge! Urge your Representative to support the Udall-Eisenhower Arctic Wilderness Act (H.R. 39) to permanently protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
We took action on “Urge Congress to Permanently Protect the Arctic Refuge!”

If oil companies are allowed to destroy the Arctic Wildlife Refuge it will NOT change the high cost of oil for the people of the United States - Exxon-Mobil just made the highest profits EVER made in the entire world this past year - and could charge considerably less if the high cost of oil was their goal. It is not. It is to continue the outdated oil based economy and to control all of it. The Government needs to begin to take care of our nation rather than just the mega-corporations including and (now) especially big oil.
Please put laws into place to protect the Arctic Refuge for all of us!!

There are PLENTY of oil wells in texas for example that are just doing nothing, and so why disturb our polar bears and threaten their exisitance when we do not have to?

This is a fragile habitat, and I have read in several sources-not just here-that the polar bear is indeed endangered.

If Congress would show some backbone and stand up to Bush/Cheney and their big oil cronies, perhaps there'd be more money for altertive engery research.

Drilling the Arctic Wildlife Refuge for the oil that will reach our gas pumps when we should be driving cars that no longer use fossil fuels, is a futile option. We need to develop hydrogen, solar, wind and make automobile producers create cars that make 100 miles per gallon. Drilling the Arctic is dangerously stupid.

Drilling in the Arctic will supply the United States for only a few months. Please support renewable energy and conservation.

We must protect our remaining wilderness, such as the Arctic Reguge and our coastal areas, such as the Gulf of Mexico, from being expolited by self interest groups, "big oil" in particular and those who promote "big oil" in the name of self interest, continually ignoring pressing forward toward alternative energies. The United States must take stands through action as our European neighbors have been doing. We must protect our earth! Through natural evolution, some unavoidable damage is done to the earth, however, mankind can greatly assist, in many ways, and not add to nature's damage.
Please stand strong in favor of helping everyone you share this beautiful planet with, as well as future generations to come.

Killing wildlife and drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge and the supporting environment is not a solution to fuel needs. A temporary fix to fuel supply will not yield an initiate, nor educate and stimulate long term renewable energy sources.

Oil drilling in the Arctic will further disrupt and negatively effect areas shrinking by global warming. Not only will we speed up genocide of species who live and depend on current artic conditions, but will accelerate ggglobal warmings effect on the entire planet.

I just don't feel this will do any good and He said himself that it would take over 10 years or more to do any good. I think th U S needs to find other ways for gas. Plus President Bush Is an Oil Man Its Always Mess with Gods Earth. I Don't believe that God Intended for his Beauiful Earth To be Depleted every time Man finds himself in a Bind.
