Don't Let Idaho Kill Endangered Wolves

Hundreds of wolves are at risk in Idaho, where in 2001 legislators passed a measure calling for the elimination of wolves "by any means necessary." The State has recently asked for permission to kill up to 75% of the wolves within the Lolo District of Clearwater National Forest and in an area where they are now protected as an endangered species.
And, they want to repeat the slaughter in the Lolo District every year for the next five years.
Most unsettling is that Idaho would like to kill 3 out of 4 wolves regardless of the wolves' history of interaction with humans and livestock. That means that wolves that have never done anything to harm livestock or people could be killed.
Once hunted, trapped and poisoned to extinction in Idaho, wolves have made a remarkable recovery. An estimated 512 wolves, including 36 breeding packs, are a critical part of Idaho's ecosystems. And, contrary to anti-wolf extremists' claims, the wolves are not a significant threat to livestock or game populations.

Please stop the destruction of our ecosystems - Don't let them kill off the wolves again! Fish and Wildlife, isn't it your job to protect wildlife rather than destroy them? You of all people should understand the wolves' important role in the natural world! Let them be. (And maybe consider taking away 75% of the farmland and returning it to nature, as it's really the farms and the people who pose the threat.)

I think that wolves are the most beautiful animals in this world. My husband used to own an Alaskan Timberwolf in Orgeon. He loved his wolf cause he tells me that the wolves are a part of his Native American Heritage. Why put them down? Just because people want to kill them to saved their livestock? I think that is just bull!! Why get rid of animals just to get to the brink of extinction? Look at how the poachers are killing Elephants for their tusks in Africa. How can they say that's right? These people need to realize that some of these animals are beautiful and that they shold be embrace in a way that nature intended it to be. How can people study any kind of animal if there aren't going to be any left? These animals need to be saved and they need to be saved now!!

You should deny this request because it's wrong! Wildlife should be able to stay wild and living. What harm are they doing to you. I mean we have everything we could ever need, food and a place to stay. Unlike them our bare hands are killing them already with our modern day technology and cutting down trees, detroying habitats. Have you ever thought of this? If you don't deny this, I'm sure you will regret this for life. Plus why the heck would a NATIONAL FOREST sign something that would kill animals in the forest and such.

If they kill all of the wolves, how will our children and their children and so on find out about them? by reading about them in books!? thats not how it should be! they should be able to learn about them in nature, not by lookin at them in books!!

Just horrible. It's not their fault they need to survive. Why do you think deer are in our backyards now? Humans are the ones who are taking their land. They were here first. This is completely ridiculous. Even if the wolves were killing the livestock, that's the farmer's fault for not being cautious enough. These wolves deserve a life, as do humans. We must learn to live in harmony with nature in order to secure the existence of our people and our Earth.

It is ridiculous to even propose such an idea. These creatures were put on Earth for a reason and they have just as much of a right to stay on Erath as you do. Many of these animals have never even caused harm to people. If you leave them alone they will leave you alone. To kill these wolves is like a killing a part of life. They may not be able to talk to you or tell you how they feel, but that doesn't mean that they can't communicate or that they can't feel. I'm sure everyone has heard their parents say this or you as a parent has said this, but how would you like to be the wolf in this situation???
