FDA Schedules Vote on Plan B - Make This Time the Last!

The morning-after pill: Women have been waiting a long time to access it without a prescription. Now, the FDA has re-started its decision-making process around the fate of the morning-after pill, also known as Plan B.
Despite FDA experts' own findings that Plan B is a safe and effective contraceptive method for women AND their recommendation that it be approved for over-the-counter use, anti-choice politicians have successfully pressured the FDA to refuse to improve access to it for more than 3 years.
Don't let lack of public pressure be the reason the FDA sits on its laurels again.

When men start carring a child for 9 mos. and giving birth then, and ONLY then, they can tell us what to do with our bodies. Mean time I think it IS the WOMAN's CHOICE. Isn't there enough unwanted babies born in the world! Get off your holier than tho soap box and wake-up !! Those people that are passing the buck aren't going to be there after the next election--But we will!! And we will continue the fight FOR the Morning-After Pill!! It is the ONLY right choice!Keep IT! Course IF there wasn't Rape,Incest,Dead Beat Dad's, we wouldn't need it! Stop ALL of this and maybe we wouldn't have to have such a thing!

For me, a person who needed to use Plan B with a perscription (that was required), it was very inconvenient. I am poor, but am still of privledge, having a phone, the internet, a vehicle, and a partner there to help me. I had to worisomly/quickly research what, how, who, (finally) get an online perscription, and call a pharmacy to make sure they would not turn me away, which took resources and TIME. My partner and I, then, had to drive across the border to go to a strange grocery store pharmacy that we weren't familiar with, which was uncomfortable, nerve wrecking, inconvenient, and took lots of time. Also, finding only Plan B was available (not the name brand version) made me more nervous. Things went smoothly after that, but what an uneccessary fiasco just to maintain my health and welbeing. I couldn't help but think how screwed (pun intended) one would be not having had all of the resources I had. What if I was poor, alone, with no phone, internet, or car?? Then I could have possibly added to the number of resentful single mothers raising ungrateful kids and the kid possibly having a non-existant father. There is no long-term support for mothers put in this situation. Having Plan B more accessable would be a responsible move to help the woman stay in control of her own life. If she gets into a pickle, and the pickle runs away, and she is left alone, she needs to know that a quick walk down to the local pharmacy can save her from a life of life-long headaches... this is the long-term solution. FDA, you must stop the unneccesary delay and approve Plan B for women. It is not as though they have to take it, but it will be there if they desire to take it.
