Give Darfur Kids Stability Through Education

Target: US Fund for UNICEF
Sponsored by: Care2
For the past 18 months, thousands of children from the Darfur region of Sudan have sought refuge in Eastern Chad after being driven from their villages.

Many of these children have never been inside a classroom. Many of them have also witnessed horrendous atrocities that are extremely difficult for any adult or child to explain or overcome.

But there is help. Educational activities strongly contribute to helping children overcome traumatic experiences – and can bring a sense of protection and normalcy to their lives.

The School-in-a-Box program has become part of the UNICEF standard response in emergencies around the world. The kit contains supplies and materials for a teacher and up to 80 students.

Support this effort to bring school supplies to the Darfur children. Tell UNICEF you want School-in-a-Box to go to more children from Darfur!

Dear US Fund for UNICEF,

Darfur is one of the hardest places in the world to be a child. Almost 2 million children have been affected by the ongoing crisis in Darfur. Yet in the face of this crisis, there is hope.

Educational activities strongly contribute to helping children overcome traumatic experiences - and can bring a sense of protection and normalcy to their lives.

I respectfully request that you increase your shipments of School-in-a-Box kits to children from Darfur. Please help these children continue their education even when basic supplies or classroom facilities are not available locally.

Children are the future. In order to make things better for all the people of Darfur, we must educate as many children as we can. These children have been through so much and they deserve an education. An education will help empower the children and all the people of Darfur. They are all important.

We need these children to have a future, so they can transcend their innumerable horrors they faced, so that they can rebuild Darfur, rebuild Sudan, rebuild Africa instead of living in perpetual hell.

Gives children competency and skills to realise their potential and may also enable them to 'survive' the horrors they are experiencing in Darfur at present.
