Protect Women's Reproductive Freedom!

Target: U.S. Senators
Sponsored by: NARAL Pro-Choice America
Women make up more than half of the population of the United States, yet women still struggle to gain freedom over our most basic rights – the right to plan our pregnancies, the right to choose when and if to have a child, and the right to control our bodies, WITHOUT government interference in our private medical decisions!

On January 22, 2004, the 31st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) introduced the federal Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), a landmark piece of legislation that will protect women's civil liberties and prohibit the government from interfering in the exercise of reproductive rights.

Help pass this bill to protect our most fundamental freedoms! FOCA is about reproductive freedom at its most basic for ALL women – FOCA protects a woman's right to choose to bear a child as well as her right to plan her pregnancies with birth control and to choose to terminate a pregnancy. FOCA prohibits discrimination against the exercise of reproductive rights.

Tell your Senators today: support the Freedom of Choice Act! Sign below.

Dear Senator,

I support the Freedom of Choice Act that will secure the original vision of Roe v. Wade, giving all women reproductive freedom and securing that right for future generations. By adding my name to this petition, I agree that:

~ We the People of Pro-Choice America, in order to form a more just and equitable society for America's women and families, regardless of where they live, the color of their skin or their economic status;

~ To remedy the erosion of our constitutional freedoms by state and federal politicians and judges;

~ To counter anti-choice forces who have now captured all political power in Washington, D.C.;

~ To secure the promise of Roe v. Wade for generations to come;

~ Do affirm the right to choose and sign below in unity with other pro-choice Americans in support of The Freedom of Choice Act.

Sincerely,

As a man I find it unconscionable to insult women's intelligence by interfering in their reproductive decisions.

Women are not second-class citizens and we deserve to have the final choice when it comes to our own bodies. Women aren't to be treated as incubation machines that have to bear children regardless of what the woman wants. It's a basic human right and no one would deny it to a man if the table's were turned.

It is my body, my decision. I should not be forced to do what someone else believes is right for me.

The government has no right to define when a family is right and ready to begin, that is my and my partner's right alone.

Being in control of one's own body is a fundamental freedom. If you take that away from us we are not free. Act for the good of all women. Do not given in to a vocal minority who wish to force the rest of America to abide by their personal belief systems! They only have the right to subject their own selves to their beliefs.

Ideally, I would want all children to be "wanted" children... There are much too many sadly ending up in poverty, in fostercare, abused, or in the streets. We need to refocus on CARING FOR, not CONTROLLING women and children. Women need to be free to choose a better way of life - for ourselves, and for the children we wish to raise in Love and Peace.

IT is indescribably idiotic to suppress the abilitiy to stop childbirth, especially in the age where it is most important- we are extremely overpopulated. Mind you, allt those of you who say it is unnatural, it has been done for thousands and thousands of years, with certain plants that would help.

It is insulting that so called pro-life supporters treat pro-CHOICE as murderers and then support a war that is killing so many peoples children. Just to further their own agendas. They are taking lives, jobs, and our most important rights as Americans. FREEDOM of CHOICE. I am an intelligent human being that is very capable of managing my own life.

I beieve that my body is mine. I do NOT beieve that any government,religious group,or person other than me should be able to dictate what I do with my life and body. After all, I don't see men's (reproductive) bodies coming into question...why should mine?
