The recent presidential primaries have highlighted a key imbalance in the media's coverage of global warming.
A League of Conservation Voters' study found that ABC's George Stephanopoulos asked presidential candidates more than 767 questions in a debate -- only 5 of which were related to global warming. CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked more than 402 questions -- only 5 were about global warming. Sadly, other political commentators and reporters have shown a similar disregard for this key issue.
Not to mention, when global warming is covered, many media outlets still bring on "scientists" who claim that global warming is not real, even though an overwhelming majority of scientists agree that it is. This is not balanced - this is deceiving. The public deserves responsible reporting on this critical issue.
Sign the petition today to tell these media outlets that global warming needs to be covered, and it needs to be covered in a meaningful and truly balanced manner.

As a geology instructor, I am aware that many, many people in our country still think that global warming is being debated. I tell them, "Here are the facts: Average global temperature is going up, and it coincides with the increase in CO2 that began with the human industrial revolution." I say that this is not a definite conclusion of causality, but that the majority of earth & atmospheric scientists believe it to be the case. THE WARMING IS FOR SURE; it's only the cause that is still debated (generally by people who are not scientists and don't have all the information).

Climate change will be the single most important issue confronting the world during the 21st century, and it will affect every facet of our lives. Our action or inaction on climate change issues during the next decade will have a profound impact on the fate of the Earth and future generations. The media, the candidates for President, and the Congress need to focus on this overwhelmingly significant subject before it's too late.

It's disheartening to see that the media is still refuting sound science. To me this is our number one issue as a global community in order to live sustainbly in the future and secure a better world for the next generation. I would like to see a focus on addressing this issue and some of the great things people are working on to make this happen. I get very tired of all the bad news. There is good news out there if you are open to it. Just look at Ode Magazine for examples, a highly regarded European magazine.
