Tell Congress: No More Money For Iraq

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Democrats.com
March 19 marked the 5th Anniversary of George Bush's disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq - yet there is no end in sight.

The costs so far are staggering: over 4,000 young Americans killed, tens of thousands maimed ... estimates of 1 million Iraqi civilians killed, millions more maimed or driven abroad ... $562 billion in tax dollars stolen from our children ... $3 trillion cost to our economy through veterans care, weapons replacement, higher oil prices, and the collapsing dollar.

All that in just 5 years!

We elected a Democratic Congress in 2006 to bring our troops home. They politely sent Bush one bill after another to "change the course," but he vetoed them all.

So Democrats have just one choice left: to Just Say No to any more funds for Iraq.

The Constitution gives Congress control of the Federal checkbook. George Bush cannot spend a penny unless Congress writes him a check.

Unfortunately, Congress has written one blank check after another, now totaling $562 billion. And now George Bush wants another blank check for $102 billion. Congress is set to vote on this next week.

No More Money For Iraq, Except To Bring Our Troops Safely Home

Dear Representative,

The costs of the invasion and occupation of Iraq are staggering: over 4,000 young Americans killed, tens of thousands maimed ... estimates of 1 million Iraqi civilians killed, millions more maimed or driven abroad ... $562 billion in tax dollars stolen from our children ... $3 trillion cost to our economy through veterans care, weapons replacement, higher oil prices, and the collapsing dollar.

I urge you to vote against any more money for Iraq, except to bring our troops safely home.

Sincerely,

Isn't it about time we get sensible? While our current gov't administration continues to borrow money to pay for an Iraqi War, the people at home are suffering from inflation, lost jobs, homelessness and hunger. It's time to take action to stop this senseless war. Respectfully submitted, CDW

Please stop the occupation/war in Iraq. This war is only for making the oil companies, their stock holders & the contractors/carpet baggers richer on the backs of our suffering American families & American troops. The war is destroying the economy & he spirit of America. There is no reason to be engaged in this Iraq war/occupation. Stop the madness by ending this war. If you truly support our troops & represent the American people, then you would BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW! Geneva & Jim Shearburn

The war has gone on far too long and without the consensus of the electorate, let's bring this to a conclusion without additional funding.

This war was wrong to begin with, and now we have spent billions of dollars to kill thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. No more money for an illegal, immoral war!
