Target:U.S. House of Representatives Sponsored by:Democrats.com
March 19 marked the 5th Anniversary of George Bush's disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq - yet there is no end in sight.
The costs so far are staggering: over 4,000 young Americans killed, tens of thousands maimed ... estimates of 1 million Iraqi civilians killed, millions more maimed or driven abroad ... $562 billion in tax dollars stolen from our children ... $3 trillion cost to our economy through veterans care, weapons replacement, higher oil prices, and the collapsing dollar.
All that in just 5 years!
We elected a Democratic Congress in 2006 to bring our troops home. They politely sent Bush one bill after another to "change the course," but he vetoed them all.
So Democrats have just one choice left: to Just Say No to any more funds for Iraq.
The Constitution gives Congress control of the Federal checkbook. George Bush cannot spend a penny unless Congress writes him a check.
Unfortunately, Congress has written one blank check after another, now totaling $562 billion. And now George Bush wants another blank check for $102 billion. Congress is set to vote on this next week.
Sign our petition to tell your Representative: no more money for Iraq, except to bring our troops safely home.
We signed the “Tell Congress: No More Money For Iraq” petition!

SOMEONE needs to have the courage to stand in opposition to our "leaders" who continue sacrificing men, women and money in what we KNOW to be an UNLAWFUL war. It staggers the mind that the war was sanctioned in the first place and, even more staggering, continues ad infinitum! If you vote to continue funding, you are voting in favor of this war. Please let it be you Representatine Visclosky, from my state of Indiana, who has the courage to stop it.

It's time to pull out! It's not democracy now it's martial law. Life isn't better over there it's worse. We are looking like the villains as much as the saviors. What a mess. Time to come home.

When is George W. Bush going to stop caring about Iraq so much and start caring about what happens to his own country? He is the U.S. President not the president for Iraq! Just bring our troops home!

This war is not being effective, and is unlikely to become effective in the future, therefore no new funds should be given for it.

Iraq is a rat hole. Stop throwing billions of dollars and thousands of American lives down it. And the dead soldiers might well be deemed the lucky ones here. Coming home without limbs or eyes and/or being mentally disabled for life with PTSD would be deemed by some a fate worse than death (and, we, the taxpayers will cover the cost of treatment all these maimed veterans for about the next 60 years till this generation's troops die of old age).

The only way to maintain strength is to maintain strength in the core. Each time we ship our tax dollars overseas we open the tap that releases the strenght we so dearly need in our core. After loosing so much already is is time to reinforce our eduction, awareness and conciousness right here at home so that when the reprecousions of our currents actions arise we are strong and ready... it is up to you to make the descion we all know is right by keeping as much money in the US as possible (as well as alloting the $$ to the sectors which will most benefit and inturn produce all the most benefit) while putting just what is needed out to bring everyone home safe and sound. It is up to you to do this right

I oppose further funding, so that our overused troops can come home and mend and be supported in that process by the U.S. and State governments and so that our focus can be on the major issues facing this country and that the U.S. military can go after the relatively small group of the leadership and cohorts of Al-Queada in Pakistan, Afganistan, or wherever they are based.

IT IS TIME FOR BUSH AND THE WAR SUPPORTERS TO PRESSURE THE SHIA CONTROLLED GOVERNMENT TO MAKE RECONCILLIATION THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY BETWEEN THE WARRING TRIBES. WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE IN IRAQ FOR THE NEXT HUNDRED YEARS. IRAQ OIL MONEY NEEDS TO BE USED TO REBUILD THE COUNTRY. WE CANNOT CONTINUE TO SEND MONEY TO IRAQ WITHOUT PROGRES BEING MADE.

Our military and their families have suffered enough. We are bankrupting our country. We will need to care for life many of our wounded veterans. Military health benefits are being cut. It's time to bring our brave men home.
