Tell Congress: No More Money For Iraq

Target: U.S. House of Representatives
Sponsored by: Democrats.com
March 19 marked the 5th Anniversary of George Bush's disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq - yet there is no end in sight.

The costs so far are staggering: over 4,000 young Americans killed, tens of thousands maimed ... estimates of 1 million Iraqi civilians killed, millions more maimed or driven abroad ... $562 billion in tax dollars stolen from our children ... $3 trillion cost to our economy through veterans care, weapons replacement, higher oil prices, and the collapsing dollar.

All that in just 5 years!

We elected a Democratic Congress in 2006 to bring our troops home. They politely sent Bush one bill after another to "change the course," but he vetoed them all.

So Democrats have just one choice left: to Just Say No to any more funds for Iraq.

The Constitution gives Congress control of the Federal checkbook. George Bush cannot spend a penny unless Congress writes him a check.

Unfortunately, Congress has written one blank check after another, now totaling $562 billion. And now George Bush wants another blank check for $102 billion. Congress is set to vote on this next week.

No More Money For Iraq, Except To Bring Our Troops Safely Home

Dear Representative,

The costs of the invasion and occupation of Iraq are staggering: over 4,000 young Americans killed, tens of thousands maimed ... estimates of 1 million Iraqi civilians killed, millions more maimed or driven abroad ... $562 billion in tax dollars stolen from our children ... $3 trillion cost to our economy through veterans care, weapons replacement, higher oil prices, and the collapsing dollar.

I urge you to vote against any more money for Iraq, except to bring our troops safely home.

Sincerely,

Use money only for reconstruction for Iraq, to help with U.N. peacekeeping efforts if agreed upon, and to remove the coalition's occupational forces.

There should not be any more American fund wasted in a country that is rich enough to take care of their own problems if they wanted to. We are in deep economic trouble here and American tax money should go to benefit Americans first.

Pres. Bush, Enough is enough. Iraq is in a civil war that we have not been able to stop. We let the genie out of the bottle by our premptive invasion. A stupid plan with no thought of the consequences. The only money that should go to Iraq is to pull our troops out. We had our Civil War, let them finish theirs. Mike L

This war was illegal from the get-go. We were lied into it by an illegal-presidential administration who also happen to be traitors to the United States of America.

This destructive war must be stopped now. Too many lives have been destroyed and our country and it's infrastructure are in desperate need of repair, as is Iraq. Iraq's problems will not be solved militarily. Stop wasting tax payers' money and making contractors rich.
