Target:U.S. House of Representatives Sponsored by:Democrats.com
March 19 marked the 5th Anniversary of George Bush's disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq - yet there is no end in sight.
The costs so far are staggering: over 4,000 young Americans killed, tens of thousands maimed ... estimates of 1 million Iraqi civilians killed, millions more maimed or driven abroad ... $562 billion in tax dollars stolen from our children ... $3 trillion cost to our economy through veterans care, weapons replacement, higher oil prices, and the collapsing dollar.
All that in just 5 years!
We elected a Democratic Congress in 2006 to bring our troops home. They politely sent Bush one bill after another to "change the course," but he vetoed them all.
So Democrats have just one choice left: to Just Say No to any more funds for Iraq.
The Constitution gives Congress control of the Federal checkbook. George Bush cannot spend a penny unless Congress writes him a check.
Unfortunately, Congress has written one blank check after another, now totaling $562 billion. And now George Bush wants another blank check for $102 billion. Congress is set to vote on this next week.
Sign our petition to tell your Representative: no more money for Iraq, except to bring our troops safely home.
We signed the “Tell Congress: No More Money For Iraq” petition!

I'm so dissapointed in our government, i can't even put it into words. I hate the fact that my tax dollars are funding a war that is incredibly wrong! I feel bad for the kids that will be taking over this messed up system in 20 years. Please make some changes now, and stop the flow of money into Iraq. George Bush needs to be stopped!

I'm aghast at the amount of money we have already spent in Iraq with such meager results. I say no more.

Please don't spend another penny on the war when there are so many better ways we could be using those funds. Bring our troops home!

I have opposed this war from the beginning. We have spent too much money and, more appalling, wasted so much life - the lives of our solders and those of Iraqi citizens. Our infrastructure here at home is showing obvious signs of our complete waste of resources. Please do not commit anymore funds to this stupid war. Bring our soldiers safly home!!!

No, no, no. It's easy. On the one hand: Death, destruction, shame, despair; on the other hand: start growing a spine, start rebuilding our international reputation, spend money on things we desparately need here at home. A no-brainer.

We can afford a war but can't afford to get a national healthcare system, or have a decent economic recovery package for the US. It's time to bring the troops home. Let Iraq and other countries adopt the Constitution...it's worked pretty well for us for over 200 years.

This unconstitutional war has cost trillions of taxpayer money, while the economy here in the US is tanking. It is time to bring all the troops home, and not relocate them to other areas in the Middle East/Caspian Region. We need resources for jobs, housing, and health care for all Americans, not war. Slash the bloated and wasteful military budget.

This war is based on a lie--it was preemptive--it is criminal--we need to get our troops out of Iraq---& we don't have the money to spend on this war---we are spending our childrens money so Halliburton can get richer & other companies--this is so unbelievable!!! FOR WHAT REASON?

The Bush Administration has created a corporate cash cow at the expense of our country's blood. They started this war for profitt and were so evil to believe their own lies. Our country is a fascist state under republican rule.

Please, please bring our troops home, and let the Soveriegn Nation of Iraq rule itself. We have no place being their government nor their police department.
So far we have lost over 4,000 soldiers and More Than one Trillion dollars (if you count the external costs, it is far more). This game of Bush's is over. We have more than paid back the debt to Saudi Arabia for the deal Reagan made with the Sheik to drop the price of oil in 1983 and crack Russia's back.
