Recent reports say that 25 percent of all teenage girls in the U.S. have a sexually transmitted disease. This study is just the latest piece of evidence of a nationwide crisis in adolescent reproductive health - and unfortunately, the Bush administration continues to turn a blind eye to the problem. We need to get rid of the current deceptive approach of abstinence-only programs and put in place a federal sex-education program that gives teens the facts - including both the benefits of abstinence and the facts about safe sex and how to prevent the spread of STDs. The Responsible Education About Life (REAL) Act will do just that.

I am teaching a Current Healyh Issues class at a University, most of the girls/guys feel as long as she is on the pill, or can't get pregnant, then sex is OK. Might feel good, and then you find out you both have side efects. Come ON guys, save some of that IRAQI rebuilding money so we can strengthen the USA!

I am so sick and tired of parents and adults in this country thinking "not my little angel". Well, guess what, your little angel is "doing it" too. Wake up and teach our children the TRUTH about sex before it is too late for them. A lot of STD's are incurable and teen pregnancy is something we all pick up the bill for. Can we please move forward and teach children the truth about sex, EARLY! Not once it is too late. BTW most girls I know lost their virginity at 13~ yes most~ even the ones from upper middle class "good" families.
