Greater Yellowstone Wolves Delisted - Protest Now!

Target: U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife
The Bush/Cheney administration has just eliminated federal protections for wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies, opening the door to the slaughter of hundreds of America's most beloved wolves.

This decision leaves the region's wolves at the mercy of outrageous state management plans that could lead to the killing of all but 300 wolves - eliminating 80% of all the wild wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.

We need to let the Bush/Cheney administration know that we strongly oppose this decision to remove Greater Yellowstone wolves from the list of federally protected threatened and endangered species.

Please sign our petition of protest and demand that the administration reverse its misguided decision and continue protecting Greater Yellowstone wolves under the Endangered Species Act.

GOOD NEWS! Court Restores Federal Protections for Wolves

wolf Over forty thousand Care2 members protested the Bush administration's decision to delist Greater Yellowstone area wolves from the Endangered Species Act in March 2008.

And on July 18, a federal judge restored endangered species protections for wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.

This victory means that Northern Rockies states must immediately halt further killing of wolves. Already, over 100 wolves had been killed in the short time since wolves were delisted in March.

I am deeply disturbed by the federal government's decision to remove wolves in the Greater Yellowstone and Central Idaho regions from the list of federally protected threatened and endangered species.

I strongly oppose the weakening of protections for these wolves and expect the federal government to fulfill its obligation to secure a lasting future in the Northern Rockies for these amazing animals.

Please accept my comments in support of continued Endangered Species Act protection for wolves in the Northern Rockies and immediately reverse this decision to delist these wolves.

Sincerely,

Wolves are again the target of greed and selfishness. Man is again trying to take the place of God or Mother Nature. We do not have the right to say who lives and who dies!

We need to be doing more to ensure that wolves continue to thrive instead of delisting them off of the endangered and threatened species list. Isolated pockets of wolves will not thrive. Safety zones are needed linking Canada to the Yellowstone Area.

I couldn’t be more furious about the recent murder of Yellowstone wolves thanks to this administration’s removal of them from the endangered species list – thus sending another wink and a nod from Bush & Cheney to their business interests out West. Aside from chronic Constitutional attacks via Cheney’s council (David Addington), and failure of the House to initiate impeachment proceedings, this ranks among our greatest embarrassments. So, to save Bush for further humiliating himself in the eyes of history, return the wolves to protection.

It is our responsibility as citizens of this planet and this country to protect and restore any and all endangered species until their populations are healthy enough to integrate back into an healthy environment.

wolves where made for a reason just like humans what gives a human the right to kill a wolf. They world is not ours alone where share it. We need to protect wolves so they can live free out of cages running in the snow and stuff where they belong not on someones wall. The first humans that lived on this world lent to communicate and socialize from wolves. THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO LIVE.Like Iv said before ONE CALL UNITES THEM ALL. lets keep it like that.

There is a difference between protecting your property when an animal comes onto it to do harm and going out and killing them regardless of what pattern they have.

Our government, both state and federal can't seem to get it into the thick political heads that the continued devastation of our wildlife is a precursor to a greater threat to our environment. I simply cannot understand why our government is so willing to take our precious wildlife to extinction or the brink of and then send up the urgent "we must do something" flag to try to save the endangered species. It is absolutely unconscionable to drive the wolf population to near extinction and then re-introduce wolves back into Yellowstone only to then start the slaughter again. How dare you! I am sickened by this horrific, immoral act inflicted upon these exquisite creatures. You do not have the moral authority to carry out these acts against our wildlife.

Why remove these animals from the list? as soon as you remove them, hunters will be gathering up like flys on turd and then history repeats it self.. Bush has done NOTHING for out country but drive it into deeper depths of our own little hole that he oh so kindly made.. the more stupid acts he makes the more americans start to suffer.. Why remove the animals? to save cash for his little ego war? THe sooner our goverment is lead by another thats not bushy the better! Like they sead. when the rich rage war its the poor who die.. But not it seems its also our envirment aswell as the animals who were Here hell alot longer then us.
