68 Wolves Killed In Barbaric Aerial Hunt
Governor Murkowskis reinstatement of aerial wolf hunting in Alaska has already resulted in the the death of too many wolf mothers, fathers and pups! Help stop the slaughter, Sign this petition demanding that Governor Murkowski halt the killing.
Aerial hunting allows private hunters with permits to gun down wolves from helicopters or planes; or run the wolves to exhaustion in the deep snow then land and shoot these helpless animals!
This practice is barbaric, ruthless, and intolerable. In an effort to mollify disgruntled hunting interests which claim wolves are reducing moose and caribou herds, Murkowski has legalized this reprehensible threat to wolves. But wolves often remove the sick, weak, inferior and old members of caribou and moose herds, which actually strengthens those gene pools over time.
It is time for the Governor to do the right thing - stop the slaughter.

Why is man such a stupid creature that he thinks shooting an animal from the air somehow proves that he is brave and that his deed is commendable. I am outraged to learn of allowing wolves to be gunned down by way of helicoptors and planes in Alaska. This is not hunting as a sport; this is ruthless and barbaric. Humans are not the earth's police force; Nature has its own way of balancing itself. As predators, wolves hunt and only successfully catch moose and caribou which are inferior to the rest in some way. If the wolf count is too high in certain areas, it is only because they have been driven from lands they roamed by humans. Please don't allow them to be victimized again with this slaughter. I strongly urge you to reconsider allowing this practice.

I find the word "humane" to be quite ironic when I see the horrendous acts of murder the human species is capable of. Wolves are majestic, intelligent, unique, and beautiful creatures, and it pains me deeply to see that they are so misunderstood, underappreciated, and that so many people care so little for them. I truly hope that people will realize that this barbarism must stop and that wolves aren't simply expendable. They have a right to live.

Why do we feel the need to mow down a majestic creature from who we have adopted man's best friend. Wolves don't attack humans, that can't stand the way we smell and are on most counts afraid of us. Yeah, occasionally they get into our live stock (serves us right for killing off all their natural prey in the first place).

I am very disappointed that one of the native animals, such as the wolf, is being culled in such a manner as this. There are better ways. It may cost some money but it would be worth it. I, however, won't be spending my tourist dollars any time soon to visit a place that would do that as well. I hope it comes to an end and is never repeated again. It is pathetic.
