America's Veterans Deserve Adequate Medical Care

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: American Medical Association Patients' Action Netw
Service members fighting for our country shouldn't have to worry about their families' health care. But millions of military patients and their families are already having trouble finding physicians. Since TRICARE, the military insurance plan for active and retired military members and their families, is tied to Medicare, future doctor payment cuts will cause even greater harm to their health care quality. Unless Congress acts now, future doctor payment cuts will deprive these heroes of the health care they need and deserve. Help protect service members' access to doctors!

Success! With bi-partisan majorities in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, Congress over-turned the president’s veto of Medicare doctor payment cuts on July 15, 2008.

Please don't stop here. Click for more opportunities to make a difference.
Dear [Decision maker],

On behalf of America's service members and their families, I strongly urge you to stop Medicare doctor payment cuts.

Medicare doesn't even reimburse doctors at a level equal to the cost of treating patients. And, recent reports predict that the government will cut the rates further - by 10 percent in 2008, and a whopping 40 percent by 2015!

Past cuts have made it more difficult for service members to find a doctor. Future doctor payment cuts will force doctors to limit the number of new Medicare patients they treat, will make it more difficult to find surgical and medical specialists and will force seniors to travel greater distances for medical care.

What we do and what our priorities are speaks to our relationship with god - do we act like "a god" in our actions - some sort of arrogant medieval god of anger and force taking what we want or are we more in tune with the actual creation that sustains our very being. Man is an immature animal and America is an immature culture lacking dignity and ignorant bent on self destruction without awareness.

It is bad enough that bush tried several times to cut military pay and has allowed veteran hospitals sink to poor services, the vets need to have full cares for all services needed. After all, the vets gave something of themselves for the service of the country - USA. Vets should get full benefits.

I think it is DISPICABLE that these fine, brave service men and women are not properly taken care of after they give their time, body parts and even at times, their LIVES for their country and us the American people!!! The government can send these people off to war and THEY CAN'T PAY FOR THEIR CARE??!! SHAMEFULL!
