America's Veterans Deserve Adequate Medical Care

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: American Medical Association Patients' Action Netw
Service members fighting for our country shouldn't have to worry about their families' health care. But millions of military patients and their families are already having trouble finding physicians. Since TRICARE, the military insurance plan for active and retired military members and their families, is tied to Medicare, future doctor payment cuts will cause even greater harm to their health care quality. Unless Congress acts now, future doctor payment cuts will deprive these heroes of the health care they need and deserve. Help protect service members' access to doctors!

Success! With bi-partisan majorities in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, Congress over-turned the president’s veto of Medicare doctor payment cuts on July 15, 2008.

Please don't stop here. Click for more opportunities to make a difference.
Dear [Decision maker],

On behalf of America's service members and their families, I strongly urge you to stop Medicare doctor payment cuts.

Medicare doesn't even reimburse doctors at a level equal to the cost of treating patients. And, recent reports predict that the government will cut the rates further - by 10 percent in 2008, and a whopping 40 percent by 2015!

Past cuts have made it more difficult for service members to find a doctor. Future doctor payment cuts will force doctors to limit the number of new Medicare patients they treat, will make it more difficult to find surgical and medical specialists and will force seniors to travel greater distances for medical care.

It is SHAMEFUL the way this country treats its veterans!!!!!!!!! These brave men and women deserve honor, treatment and care for however long they require it!!!!!!! They gave much for us - this is a SMALL thing we can give back to them!!!!!!!!!

They have given their all for this country. Is it too much to ask to care for them in their times of need? Where are your consciences?

They've been sent to an unnessary war, then are not taken care of upon return - it's a travesty and something must be done.

This is not a proud time when the defenders of our freedom have no support from the country they defended.

I shouldn't HAVE to tell you, and you wouldn't have to keep dealing with this loontary "decider" if you would only put IMPEACHMENT" back on the table where the majority of Americans want it. I can't wait to vote you all out.

They've served their country. Their country now needs to serve them.

If we expect Americans to step up to the plate and serve our country and take the risks involved with the job we as a country need to step up to the plate and serve them with the health care they need. It is the right thing to do!

After all those soldiers do for this country and it's pretty damn sad that we can't even provided them with the necessary medical care, if it's amputees or providing them with post traumatic stress disorder. This NEEDS to CHANGE!!! There on the front line because George Bush lied! TAKE CARE OF THEM!

It is MASSIVELY hypocritical of people to demand that citizens support the troops and then deny them healthcare when they return home from a war zone.

we ask these young men and women to give up their life for us, especially now over an absurd war, and they have to beg for fair and proper treatment when they get home? This is a complete disgrace and another example of our messed up priorities.

They need medical just like we all do. They gave their time and some lost their lives for this Country, therefore they shoud be allowed to have medical care!!!

By cutting benefits and care, it is the same as slapping them in the face and telling them you are ungrateful for their being willing to loose a part of their body or accepting a bullet that might have hit you. The reasoning behind cutting benefits giving them 'no cents' for putting their lives on the line so we can go to work, play sports, and go to church makes 'no sense' at all! Put a stop to this action of taking away their benefits.
