America's Veterans Deserve Adequate Medical Care

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: American Medical Association Patients' Action Netw
Service members fighting for our country shouldn't have to worry about their families' health care. But millions of military patients and their families are already having trouble finding physicians. Since TRICARE, the military insurance plan for active and retired military members and their families, is tied to Medicare, future doctor payment cuts will cause even greater harm to their health care quality. Unless Congress acts now, future doctor payment cuts will deprive these heroes of the health care they need and deserve. Help protect service members' access to doctors!

In December 2007, Congress voted to temporarily suspend Medicare Payment Cuts for the first six months of 2008.

Now, help make sure these healthcare cuts never happen at all! Please click here to take action >>
Dear [Decision maker],

On behalf of America's service members and their families, I strongly urge you to stop Medicare doctor payment cuts.

Medicare doesn't even reimburse doctors at a level equal to the cost of treating patients. And, recent reports predict that the government will cut the rates further - by 10 percent in 2008, and a whopping 40 percent by 2015!

Past cuts have made it more difficult for service members to find a doctor. Future doctor payment cuts will force doctors to limit the number of new Medicare patients they treat, will make it more difficult to find surgical and medical specialists and will force seniors to travel greater distances for medical care.

All Americans have a powerful purpose to follow the Golden Rule in life, especially, 'the powers that be' ! The Senate must protect people from the past, the present, and the future. Otherwise, what good are those members really worth????

Benefits ought to be increased, rather than cut.

To short fund the physical and mental health care for veterans is nothing short of pusillanimous, mean and callous, coming from a regime that has generated more suffering veterans since WW2. Also, the latest money saving scam to come from our beloved, draft dodging President and Vice President is to deny veterans benefits for PTSD by generating a two tier "Diagnosis" of the condition that will exclude thousands of psychologically wounded service people from receiving their hard earned medical benefit. Our veterans have stood up for us and we should not take away their medical care. Many of their health issues were created by defending the country we all live in. Is this the way we thank them???

I think this is one of the sadest things I have ever heard!!! Our men and woman are fighting to keep peace thru out the United Nations and the government doesn't think its important to give them medical coverage at 100%. I think there needs to be a change in government. I think we should lower the government Employees insurance....such as the congress, the senate, the Mayors and even the Presidency...for they sit in their cozy offices while are men and woman are being killed and mamed. And if they do survive the wars they are psycologically deformed for life....People we must fight for our loved ones!!!!!

It is disgraceful how we treat our military service members who need help. This is just another example.

Veterans, retirees and active duty members have and do fight for this country. Don't make them fight for medical care. Treat them as you would treat yourselves.
