America's Veterans Deserve Adequate Medical Care

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: American Medical Association Patients' Action Netw
Service members fighting for our country shouldn't have to worry about their families' health care. But millions of military patients and their families are already having trouble finding physicians. Since TRICARE, the military insurance plan for active and retired military members and their families, is tied to Medicare, future doctor payment cuts will cause even greater harm to their health care quality. Unless Congress acts now, future doctor payment cuts will deprive these heroes of the health care they need and deserve. Help protect service members' access to doctors!

Success! With bi-partisan majorities in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, Congress over-turned the president’s veto of Medicare doctor payment cuts on July 15, 2008.

Please don't stop here. Click for more opportunities to make a difference.
Dear [Decision maker],

On behalf of America's service members and their families, I strongly urge you to stop Medicare doctor payment cuts.

Medicare doesn't even reimburse doctors at a level equal to the cost of treating patients. And, recent reports predict that the government will cut the rates further - by 10 percent in 2008, and a whopping 40 percent by 2015!

Past cuts have made it more difficult for service members to find a doctor. Future doctor payment cuts will force doctors to limit the number of new Medicare patients they treat, will make it more difficult to find surgical and medical specialists and will force seniors to travel greater distances for medical care.

Soldiers are giving their all for our country, regardless of whether the war should be fought. They deserve at the least the level of care our congressional reps & senators have provided for them.

veterans have sacrificed so much for this country and we owe them the dignity of good medical care.

These men and women do so much for our country, the least we can do is give them adequate medical care in return. Please do not dishonor them by letting their medical benefits slip away. They give so very much to so many. Please give to them what they have earned and deserve.

Past VA atrocities should be ample proof of what cuts do to our veterans.

Unless the Senate's Medical Care is covered under TRICARE, they should not penalize those who served to protect them.

These men and women do so much for our country, the least we can do is give them adequate medical care that many people in corporate America already recieve. Please do not dishonor them by letting their medical benefits slip away.

Congress has universal single payer health care, why shouldn't veterans?

Already, there is such inadequate care that is so costly in America! To cut on such a vital need as this would wreak havoc for the elderly and disabled and unemployed veterans and their families! Please cut the war in Iraq and keep Health care affordable and accessible! Thank-You, A Concerned Woman

One of the benefits of serving in the armed forces is the excellent medical care. To take that away will definitely decrease the amount of people who will want to enter any armed forces.

Dear Policy-maker, Our health care problems are great on so many levels. For the love of everything decent, let's stop making decisions that keep the top 5% fat and happy. It is time for decent men and women to demand great health care at a fair cost to all. Cutting rates to reimburse doctors who care for our service people is criminal. I have truely lost faith in our system and our politicians. This is just one of many examples of the wealthy taking care of the wealthly. Good luck to us all. Regina Martin-Rodger

We ask these men and women to risk their lives, limbs, family life and financial security to fight on the behalf of our country. Politicians praise them in speeches, but it's time to do something to show concern for them!

How we take care of our own is a direct reflection of the conscience of our nation. Please let us support those who have sacrificed so much.
