America's Veterans Deserve Adequate Medical Care

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: American Medical Association Patients' Action Netw
Service members fighting for our country shouldn't have to worry about their families' health care. But millions of military patients and their families are already having trouble finding physicians. Since TRICARE, the military insurance plan for active and retired military members and their families, is tied to Medicare, future doctor payment cuts will cause even greater harm to their health care quality. Unless Congress acts now, future doctor payment cuts will deprive these heroes of the health care they need and deserve. Help protect service members' access to doctors!

Success! With bi-partisan majorities in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, Congress over-turned the president’s veto of Medicare doctor payment cuts on July 15, 2008.

Please don't stop here. Click for more opportunities to make a difference.
Dear [Decision maker],

On behalf of America's service members and their families, I strongly urge you to stop Medicare doctor payment cuts.

Medicare doesn't even reimburse doctors at a level equal to the cost of treating patients. And, recent reports predict that the government will cut the rates further - by 10 percent in 2008, and a whopping 40 percent by 2015!

Past cuts have made it more difficult for service members to find a doctor. Future doctor payment cuts will force doctors to limit the number of new Medicare patients they treat, will make it more difficult to find surgical and medical specialists and will force seniors to travel greater distances for medical care.

people on A fixed income have not the ability to make up the difference when cuts are made in Medicare. Then those on it do not get medical care, or the medicines that they need.

Surely you don't want to shame your nation AGAIN by cutting medical care for our military veterans? How about a legal disclaimer (truth-in-advertising) about how you will disregard their medical needs as part of their sign up contract??? PLEASE, DO RIGHT BY THEM, DON'T SHAME YOUR COUNTRY. THANKS.

Our veterans risked their lives for us to live in a country that is fair and just. To cut medical care from our veterans would be barbaric and cruel. Sandy Mayfield

they are either laying they're lives on the line for us or have done so in the past!! and their families depend on them for the times when they are in need for military jobs are more scure than other types of jobs. Please help the families keep what care they get and add more benefits to what they now get.

Americans have spent years paying taxes and paying into Social Security. We refuse to let insurance companies cut our benefits to line their own pockets. If you don't act now, doctor payment cuts will jeopardize Americans' access to doctors. America's vets have sacrificed for our country and have done their duty to protect all Americans. Please make good on your promise by stopping Medicare doctor payment cuts. view less

This is to be expected from the chicken hawk government. Anyone who supports these cuts should be hung as a traitor.

Our veterans have had their lives altered in a million ways because they served our country. We owe them limiatless health care to help compensate for their sacrifices.

Taking care of the men and women in all branches of military service is the right thing to do! My father served on the front lines of WWII and Korea, upon his return home he was not granted the care he desperately required. Now my son is a Marine and I pray our country and those in decision making positions choose to show appreciation by making sure his medical and mental needs are met now and after his service is completed. America is strong because of its volunteer military, let's take care of those who serve!

We have no problem asking them to sacrifice their lives so we can take a hot shower in the morning, ergo how dare the very people that place them in peril expect them to sacrifice their future also.

These wonderful people, whether active or retired should have access to medical benefits in full, for the entire family; these courageous people are protecting the whole country and it would be terrible if they didn't get the medical care they needed.

Just as you have certain high overhead and must have funding to continue the important work you do Senator, I as a physician have overhead, the cuts have forced me to limit the medicare paitints I can serve and keep my office open
