America's Veterans Deserve Adequate Medical Care

Target: U.S. Congress
Sponsored by: American Medical Association Patients' Action Netw
Service members fighting for our country shouldn't have to worry about their families' health care. But millions of military patients and their families are already having trouble finding physicians. Since TRICARE, the military insurance plan for active and retired military members and their families, is tied to Medicare, future doctor payment cuts will cause even greater harm to their health care quality. Unless Congress acts now, future doctor payment cuts will deprive these heroes of the health care they need and deserve. Help protect service members' access to doctors!

Success! With bi-partisan majorities in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate, Congress over-turned the president’s veto of Medicare doctor payment cuts on July 15, 2008.

Dear [Decision maker],

On behalf of America's service members and their families, I strongly urge you to stop Medicare doctor payment cuts.

Medicare doesn't even reimburse doctors at a level equal to the cost of treating patients. And, recent reports predict that the government will cut the rates further - by 10 percent in 2008, and a whopping 40 percent by 2015!

Past cuts have made it more difficult for service members to find a doctor. Future doctor payment cuts will force doctors to limit the number of new Medicare patients they treat, will make it more difficult to find surgical and medical specialists and will force seniors to travel greater distances for medical care.

The government puts these soldiers in the mid-east to fight for freedom. They should get the best of health care no matter what Doctor's and hospitals charge to make a profit....It's pitiful for sick people to suffer for profit.....

Access to medical care shouldn't be taken away from veterans and their families because since these veterans are fighting for us they need medical once they get hurt and their families should have medical care too. Veterans work hard at there job to fight for our Country and veterans should at least have care so they wouldn't give up and they could make it through.

Veterans deserve everything available even more than those public officials who claim ALL THE BENEFITS ! Why we let the legislators take such good care of themselves while abandoning "we the people" at our expense is quite a mystery to me.

I've been seeing cuts since the 1960s. We barely take care of our Viet Nam Vets, and are in peril of losing so many more benefits for our current military. Please help maintain their level of care.

Americans have spent years paying taxes and paying into Social Security. We refuse to let insurance companies cut our benefits to line their own pockets. We should realize how difficult the situation already is, please don't make it any more difficult for those who already serve their country, don't show how hard it could be for present soldiers and families and don't discourage future generations by sending a message that could be translated into "we don't care". If you don't act now, doctor payment cuts will jeopardize Americans' access to doctors. America's vets have sacrificed for our country and have done their duty to protect all Americans. Please make good on your promise by stopping Medicare doctor payment cuts. view less Sincerely, Pierre Castellares
