UPDATE: They're listening to us! On April 19th, Senators put principles over politics and agreed serious allegations against Bolton deserve a thorough investigation. Opposition to Bolton's nomination is growing! We need your continued support to defeat this terrible nominee - please sign today!
On March 7, President Bush shocked the world by nominating John Bolton, who's dedicated his life to undermining the United Nations, to be our UN Ambassador. Bolton has made a career of ridiculing our work with other nations to achieve our goals. If Bolton is confirmed by the Senate, he will isolate America in the world, leaving us without partners to work with to keep us safe. In fact, 59 former American diplomats, from both Democratic and Republican administrations, have written a letter urging the Senate to oppose Bolton's nomination.
Just who is John Bolton?
Throughout his career in the Departments of Justice and State and in his personal writings, John R. Bolton has repeatedly belittled international institutions and undermined global cooperation. Let Bolton tell you in his own words how he feels about the United Nations:
"If the UN secretary building in New York lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference."
"There is no such thing as the United Nations. There is an international community that occasionally can be led by the only real power left in the world and that is the United States when it suits our interest and we can get others to go along."
(both from: 1994 Global Structures Convocation, Washington, DC.)
Bolton's nomination is a serious threat to America's time-honored tradition of working with other nations to solve global problems. His obvious and well-known contempt for global cooperation could prove disastrous to U.S. national security. Sign this petition today to tell your Senators to oppose Bolton's nomination to the United Nations.
We signed the “Stop Bolton Now! Oppose John Bolton's Nomination to UN” petition!

In addition to the 59 Democratic and Republican Diplomats, who have publicly urged the Senate to oppose the nomination, Bolton, who is now undersecretary of state for arms control, has been controversial because of his open criticism of the United Nations and other international institutions and agreements. He's been contemptuous of the U.N. I cannot imagine a person with less ability for diplomacy representing the United States. How embarrassing! It has been reported that Secretary of State Rice has nominated Bolton in order to remove him from the State Department as she wants more diplomacy! The man needs to retire from diplomatic service not be confirmed as our representative to the United Nations.

george w. is already leaving us with a legacy of dislike/distrust on a global level. please don't make it worse by putting yet ANOTHER one of his POOR SELF-SERVING MANIPULATIONS in a position of power. my mantra since nov. elections has been "please don't let him do any more damage than he has till he's out of office...FOR THE GOOD OF ALL."

THE FOLLOWING MAKES UP MY MIND ON THIS NOMINATION - I HOPE IT WILL DO THE SAME FOR THE SENATE: "59 former American diplomats, from both Democratic and Republican administrations, have written a letter urging the Senate to oppose Bolton's nomination"

With Bolton there is more serious trouble in international relations. Why appoint this opponent of U.N. instead of using your diplomatic and financial powers to improve this institution.

Doesn't that just show that Bush would want to have a man like that be to be ambassador. This world is in serious trouble. Bush is looking more and more like the anti-christ to me.

We the US, need to try and blend in and get along with other peoples, not critize them! Last thing we need is more isolation.

Boulton is the wrong man for the job because he opposes the UN and would not make any headway in America's relationship with other countries.
