On March 7, President Bush shocked the world by nominating John Bolton, who's dedicated his life to undermining the United Nations, to be our UN Ambassador. Bolton has made a career of ridiculing our work with other nations to achieve our goals. If Bolton is confirmed by the Senate, he will isolate America in the world, leaving us without partners to work with to keep us safe. In fact, 59 former American diplomats, from both Democratic and Republican administrations, have written a letter urging the Senate to oppose Bolton's nomination.

John Bolton is not an ambassador and is not, therefore, qualified to serve as an ambassador to the United Nations. An ambassador is a diplomat. Mr. Bolton does not make any pretenses of being a diplomat. As such he constantly undermines the best interests of the US by denigrating just about everyone else in the UN. Imagine if Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Jefferson had been so arrogant when they served in diplomatic positions. The US would have died an early death. His unprecedented appointment while congress was in recess was an affront to congress. Now it is time to reject Mr. Bolton and insist on a diplomat to represent us in this critical position.
